Well it looks like everyone is fiddling with Black Tourings at the moment! So I thought i would start a thread tracking my progress with my motor!!

I bought the car from a zoner back in 2010, have used it daily while home on leave and have slowly been collecting bits and bobs for it! So with the next 3 month at home I figure now is a good time to get started!!

The plan for this leave is...
replace the wings
Replace Tailgate,
Fit Tech II kit,
get a respray!!

I also have to frag my saloon!!

The Project...

So ive replaced both wings and the rear passenger door, also offered the kit up to the car.

Yesterdays Progress

first fitting of the kit, all seems to line up ok, will do the final adjustments when it comes back from the painters!
Image

Image

Unfortunately had to cut a bit out to fit the towbar. I just cant live without a towbar so it had to be done!!
Image

this arrived yesterday, no rust at all, just a little damage from postage which should hopefully knock out. already ordered a new rubber strip for the bottom of the window.
Image

so I am taking the kit off again this morning then getting it to the painters.

Am getting married next month so I wont be getting the whole car painted until maybe june- if not then it will be next leave.

Gave the car a clean and polish today, am very happy with the paint job on the kit.
unfortunately the kit highlights the fact the rest of the car needs painting though!! maybe ill get it dipped in May after my honeymoon!!

Jobs still to do....
Fit lollypops/poly bushes on front end
Fit electric windows in the rear,
fit newly powdercoated front struts,
fit overhaulled calipers,
Fit Maplight Mirror (and figure out how/what to wire it into!)
pop the alpina reps on to see if i like them more than the BBS.
Have got some smoked headlights on their way soon too!

what do you guys think on lowering options? how low should i put it? was thinking 60/40.....

Looks really good mate, I done this myself last year on my touring and its so rewarding when you look at the job finished. Unfortunately I'm hardly using her anymore and seems such a waste so she might be in the for sale section soon!!! :(

how much do you think i should lower it? was thinking 60mm front and 40 rear?

does anyone know if the front springs off a 4pot saloon would work on this 4pot touring? i know the rears wont sit correctly but aint sure about the fronts[/u]

Front yes rears no, will be lower on the rear due to extra touring weight.

Ive got Mtech -15mm sport springs on the rear of my touring and with a -40mm drop on the front is just how i want it.

1. Did you consider JOM's coilovers?

2. My wings don't have repeaters. Why? It is 1993 318 touring. Was it an option or smth?
