had the car sitting at work for about 6 months in the car park.thought i shoud get it running for up coming season. so quick jump start and fires right up,but its idle goes from 1k to 2k,jumping about every 2 seconds, had a quick look and throttle body elbow has split.so ordered up new and fitted.its the same.just put new battery on (been removed for about a week)any ideas

Sometimes they do this when cold with an M50 manifold fitted, should come off pretty quickly though, check the throttle butterfly valve is shutting fully

always been fine, will remove icv and check throttle, plus any hoses for splits, this is not a common problem then. its too noisy to run up to temp but i think it cleared after 3-4 min when i run it up the other week

Oh ok, I was thinking M52 for some reason. But checks as above, ICV sticking is common when left for a while in cold/damp conditions

had a quick look, removed icv,all hoses seem ok,fittings ok etc,wd40 icv and pushed it to and through.seams to move freely.refitted it and started. its the same revs from 1 to 2k every second.with it running unplugged icv and idle drops to 800ish perfect? is the icv valve at fault?

I have this very same problem, mines been in a garage for year and i start it up every couple of months and the exact same thing happens,i have checked everything.
I just hold the revs at about 2k for about 20 secs then it idles perfect, might have somthing to do with the ecu?
