I have an e36 m42 engine in my e30. has been fitted for over a year now and everything worked fine.

ive had the car in the garage in these last 2 months doing some body work, doing brake upgrade, e46 rack, polybushes and loads of stuff.

anyway ive started working on the engine harness last week. it was an e36 harness and i had issues with fitting a front strut brace since it had the e36 wire cover and ecu was on the glovebox side hanging instead of driver side.

thus i decided to arrange the wiring by splicing almost every wire one by one removing excess length and increasing length where need so the ecu plug reaches the ecu standard location and fitted everything in the e30 firewall wire cover.

i soldered all wires and used heatshrink everywhere and did almost all wire one by one to avoid a mess and crosswires..

before i reinstalled the intake manifold/injectors/fuel lines i decided to try the wiring out. I plugged everything and turned the key. fuel pump relay is not turning on. checked for continuity from all sensors to the ecu plug and everything seems to check.

is there any reason why the ecu decides not to turn on the pump?
altough im not cranking the engine it used to prime with ingnition on and since fuel lines are hanging it should turn on right?

found somewhere that a bad cps might lead to this but checked Resistance as was stated and seems fine (resistance is 523).

any ideas anyone?

is the relay getting power? have you looked at the wiki?

yes forgot to say. there is positive. the problem is the negative wire to power the relay which is coming from the ecu
