Afternoon all,

318Ti compact sport 1999

I have a rattling front right side ,inner brake pad and need to know how to eliminate it.
I`ve had the wheel off and all looked to be in place even the anti rattle spring on the other pad.
The pads have worn evenly and the piston is free and the brakes work very well with no pulling .
Any ideas will be greatly appreiciated.

Well I`ve had an idea !!

I remmeber when I had the brakes apart during the summer for a sticky piston, there was a clip missing on one of the pads . This fits into the piston and stops it from rattling.
I didnt know this at the time but remembered it was missing when we fitted new disc`s and pads to the rear.

So yes it does matter this spring clip is there :o:

Inner pad has an anti rattle spring riveted on to it that slots inside the hollow brake piston, these can come away or weaken and cause these symptoms ( had it myself a few years back)
