Overheating, Rad stone cold, diagnosis anyone?

(overheating in this weather !!)
I would bleed it straight away with a stack of anti-freeze ready to fill the cooling system

lets keep on topic please, and get joe's touring back and healthy!
joe, i'd drain the coolant out and take off the pipes for the radiator 1 AT A TIME (so you dont get confused)
then i'd clean them all out so they were sparkly, and put a hose into the radiator at a decent pressure to flush out the fins (not too hard though!)
flush the hose from top to bottom, and if possible, bottom to top, to really free up any crud.
then take out the thermostat and flush out the block, again til its running clean.
fit a new thermostat and fix the system back up then refill and bleed!.
feel free to PM me your email addy and i can send a detailed instruction set to you..

Do the job properly, first time. Follow 320touring's advice and give the complete cooling system an overhaul.
The block drain plug is under the exhaust manifold at cyl.5. Buy a new plug and washer from the dealers as they dissolve with age. (you'll get change from Ԛ£3) don't forget the thermostat O ring too (should come with the new 'stat) And if you push the heater hose onto the stat housing too far it will leak!!
Good luck
