Hey zoners

Heres a good one that im betting has come up before. I am just putting the front end of my turd back together.

I put a new rubber bush in one of my lollipops. I have been trying to get the dowel end of the control arm back into the bush and that little b$%^&*^% just wont go back in.

I've tried the method universally preferred by pornstars across the world I.E. lube. Still no joy.

Anyone got any ideas that i can try????

Cheers in advance

Washing up liquid and the weight of the car normally helps.

Im a bit confused by that mate. (doesn't take much) So locate the dowel in the bush. Bolt it all up then drop the weight of the car down as normal???

It needs to be done on the car too make sure its in the right place, when its on it wont twist round on the dowel.

I did a e36 and was a PITA but got there with patients.

Its tight but yep, you need to ensure the bush is correctly on the dowel so the bush isnt under stress and will last. It will also affect the tracking.

It's very important that the lubricant you use is not a permanent one, such as grease, otherwise you'll be changing them again in a short period of time.
The usual DIY lubricant is washing up liquid mixed with a small quantity of water. This will lubricate the pin enough to get it into the bush and aligned, but will then dry up. Don't drive the car until it is dry!
Wedge a block of 3X2 between the control arm and the underside of the car to stop the pin moving around as you twist the bush on, and make sure you don't push the car off of your axle stands.
