Yep I`m syill going in the E30 M3 track car.

Just hoping its dry so I can get the sticky`s on. The day is 98db drive by. I must remember to take some cardboard or I not going to make the noise limit with the induction noise. My also change the diff for a shorter one, as there is not any long straights like Silvers, but its bloody cold in the garage at the moment, so may also not bother.

Need to keep an eye on the weather forecasts.

regards,

Dave

Oh, I was hoping it was static...

My Civic is much noisier on induction.

Hope it passes, I don't have the OE airbox...

Not at all mate, I think quite a bit of my day might be spent doing this (so long as the well-used Civic holds up!!)

Not long now :D wonder what the weather is going to be like?!?

Important note for those wanting a passenger ride with Davetouring -you must be there first thing and attend the breifing in order to be a passenger...

No briefing = no passenger wrist band.

I would offer passenger rides in my MG but i've already got two passengers that i have got to rotate

:?

Last two posts combined confused me slightly.

The first briefing is at 7:30am, I think there is another for 'late arrivals' at 8:30am.

I have a few people who will be coming out with me, but I'll try to keep everyone happy! Hehe!

I do wanna do a couple of laps single handedly though!

Weird that the passengers need to be there for the briefing, but fair enough!

passengers probably need to go just so they know what to do if they need to get out of the car etc whilst on the circuit (or on the grass/gravel as the case would be) rather than wander about aimlessly tehy'll know where to go etc

Ok no probs!

I don't think they will let anyone under probably eighteen on track (could be wrong) and he will need to have a driving licence for sure.

Being in Grays, you could try a place called 'The Cardrome' in Hornchurch, Essex, which is where I honed my skills at about 11! Lots of set out roads for people who haven't passed their tests.
Apart from that, I'm not sure. You could obviously drive with him as a passenger?

I got my Colway Intermediate Tyres ready for Saturday, being fitted tomorrow. Anything from dry->damp->wet should be ok.

I have a spare seat so if your signed up I can take a few passengers round, but if you get sick you clean up after you.

Look for the Stripy E30M3 no69. Coma and say hello.

Kinda glad I've gone for Intermediates not full Slicks now!

Looking forward to it!

Really should be in bed, four hours and I've gotta be up. It's like Christmas at five years old though, I'm too excited!!

Well what a day,

A rolled fiesta
a few in the barriers and pit wall
10 to 15 kitty litters

All I can say from other days is a poor standard of driving from quite a few people, giving the weather conditions. A lot of people ran out af tallent today.

Besides that, it was a day of power sliding, trying to find a gear that would give me some traction and trying to keep the car going in the right direction. have made a mental note to expore some wet settups for the car as it was an absolute pig today in the wet but is bliss on a dry circuit, but we had some positives as well.

Managed to weigh the car on the scales and totalled in a 1175KGs which is more than I hoped for but will have to look at the cage as a way of reducing some weight.

Met a few guys from the zone who all seemed to enjoy themselves and kept it clean which is better than I can say for the Honda boys, who suffered everything from a leaking rad, to multiple off`s.

Anyway time to get the car back off the trailer and get her ready for winter hibination.

cheers,

Dave.

Like wise Andy, nice to meet you.

I was lucky the noise meter was not in operation to my knowledge, or they would have silenced me very quickly, but at least everyone could hear that orgasmic sound the CF air box makes at 8000rpm.

Still annoyed that it was pisspoor weather, but at least I can understand why the racing car teams go on about a wet and dry settups for their cars, so maybe i`ve also learnt that I need to set the car up for the anticipated weather forecast. Today would have been difficult as without a pit garage, you don`t want to be adjusting suspension settings in the wind and rain.

At least we all came home with our cars in one piece.

Regards,

Dave

Hi guys,

Really enjoyed yesterday, got quicker throughout the day as I learnt the circuit bit by bit. Best bit was the Cranner Cruves, they were good (lift-off oversteer all the way through!) but in the dry it must be amazing.

Bit of bad attitude by some of the guys in the newer/more expensive cars refusing to slow slightly down the straights even though they knew we were quicker on through the corners especially R15TOS in the Civic Type-R and the PJ Motorsport Cossie, although most were ok.

Good to meet you Dave, your M3 is a fantastic piece of kit.

After passing an Evo late on in the day, I had to go a bit quick to pass him and a long drift followed by a sharp snap back had me spin onto the grass. That was my last outing, so apologies to Andy335 for not giving him a ride after that. My brakes and engine are sweet, need to think about the handling a bit on mine. Gearbox may need replacing and the exhaust securing properly.

All good fun and games. Need to book another soon!

Excellent day, first time i have done Donington in the rain :D

Was nice to meet you Dave, was it you that had the red e30 spin right in front of you just after the Craner Curves on about the 2nd lap? I was in my mates MK2 golf GTI that spun off as we tried to avoid both of you! lol

My MG didn't survive the day,

Image

Don't look good does it? looks like piston ring has gone but i managed to limp home leaving clouds of smoke behind me  so much so I even had a guy pull beside me on the a50 and take a photo becuase it was smoking so much!!

I was amazed at how many incosiderate/dangerous drivers were on the track compared to previous days i have been to.

I had issues with the blue mk1 golf, the beetle and also RISTO'S in the civic as all these seemed to like overtaking on the yellow lights

But an excellent day even though i had engine issues, just means the v8 will be fitted sooner than i expected!

Will have to get another one booked up?

Howdy Chaps !
I was there on Saturday - and I agree with all you lot have said. Great day !
Couldnt believe the variety of cars - all those triumph thingys , a few scoobies (obviously too wet for them ) and loads of E30s ! I was in my recently acquired Kumho challenge E30 -bit of a tired looking front - so I was trying to get to grips with it . The red E30 you referred to was a standard tired 318 , that was my good mate Dodges . First time he drove it .
As for the standard of driving - I know I'm not Senna BUT - that TVR - what was that all about ! As for that lovely (maybe Ex Works ) Triumph Vitesse - why didnt he get out of the way ever ?
Still having said that I hope I didnt hold anybody up .
And as for the M3 - I really want one now , what a sweet car !

I thank you, that was me fella... thanks to everyone who missed me :) Man that was a greasy circuit... I've driven Donny in the Dry about 10 times, this was the first time in the wet...

Stock 318 on slim cheap rubber!!! and not to mention 1st time in the car, period! I'd only driven it 20 yds onto a trailer before...

Spun 3 times on the 1st out lap, nice! Sorry if I gave anyone the willies!!!

Anyhow, I couldn't agree more about the track etiquette, was a tad dissapointing...
All the same, it was cool to see all you BM lads out there, especially that M3 Race preped beast, who's is that again? what lap times was it putting in, man it was fast!!!

Anyhow, here a few that I caught! Donny 3rd Dec

Almost as much fun as the Charger

Hey Andrew, I had a few laps with you towards the end of the day, great driving mate, hope I didn't hold you up at all... After letting you pass on the back stright :p (OK, you passed me, you were much quicker) I was hoping to get a few laps in following you but the Red Flag came out...

Maybe some other time, give me a shout the next time you're out...
