Can anyone tell me where the wiring loom from the cruise control unit ( that I presume mounts on the air box ) goes through the bulkhead, is there a blanking plug that needs to be removed or do I need to drill a new hole ?

You'll ideally need to remove the glovebox to see it, but try this anyway:
Open the front passenger door, get down on your knees, and look up behind the glovebox. You should see the huge rubber grommet where the main loom comes through the bulkhead. If you look carefully, the lower section has a number of circles embossed into it; these are blanking plugs for accessory looms to the engine, and the cruise control loom is one of them.
You'll need a knife to get the blank out, so make sure you cut the right one! Your cruise loom should have a rubber seal on it that will fit into that hole, so measure it to check.
