Here is the Mortorsport Edition i bought several weeks ago. Finally put her on the road as i wasn’t able to find the time to visit where she was stored.....

A few things to do.... (The car sailed through her MOT).

Full Valet
Rejuvenate the de-chromed trim
Change the clear indicators and repeaters to amber ones.
Do a small repair to the roof and then deep clean and re-proof.
Rejuvenate the rear bumper end caps
Replace the boot lid strut
Remove the front and rear 'M-Tech' badges
Re-paint the front leading edge of the Tech-1 front valance.

Perform a smart repair on a worn seat bolster
clean and feed all the interior (even the ashtray lids are leather)
Replace the factory over mats
Find a period or early 90's CD stereo

Adjust the valves (hopefully the injectors are not making the noise)

They are all small jobs really. The important thing is that the car is totally solid, well serviced and i know the previous owner who owned the car since 2005.

Hi Richard, thats looks like a really lovely car. I'm doing a similar thing to my diamond black tech II cabrio. A spruce up rather than a restore.

Regarding the stereo I'll tell you what I have done. It may influence you as it sounds like you want to do the same. I have taken out all original and the added cowboy wiring and replaced with a full loom from an E34. The only wiring I had to do was splice the power and earth to the original points. Then I sourced a BMW single DIN RDS Business head unit. They came in the E34, E36 and Z3's. So the stereo was just plug and play and looks perfect in the dash. I'll sort out a pic for you after top gear if this interests you?

Good looking early, very rare (one of 40 only) '88 Motorsports. Macau is simply the best colour for an E30.

Any plans for the wheels?

Thanks for the comments chaps.....

Jim, your plan sounds good for the stereo. Popped an old Blaupunkt single slot CD player in there yesterday as a stop gap. My friend had the loom done when he had the factory speakers changed for JL Audio ones, and luckily everything is all nice and tidy with an ISO plug.

The wheels...... firstly the wheels look better in the flesh than in the pictures HOWEVER they are far from ideal. I thought about fitting standard 15" BBS wheels but think the car will look under wheeled, then i thought about going for 16" Lenso BSX wheels, but the 17" tyres are all fresh and so i might get some 17" Alpina Reps as i always think they look good on an e30.

Go with the BBS - once you get used to the look of them you'll be more than happy. As it stands it's a gorgeous car with horrific wheels!
