I'm due to rip my engine and box out to replace the shitty LUK clutch with a sachs unit and I'm wondering if spacing the engine mounts up by like 20mm will have any adverse effect on the drive line?
Reason, with the e34 sump it sits lower than that of an m20 sump.. I've had a few close encounters where luckily its just grazed the bottom (its had a few) and I feel like I'm on borrowed time lol.
The car is only on a 40mm drop but the bowl sits lower than my liking. So can I get away with 20mm worth of washers or a specifically made spacer on both mounts to raise it out of harms way?

Im in the same situation as you, im even considering getting a fabricator to 'trim' the sump a little as im not completely sold on raising the engine. I think this will have an adverse affect on the propshaft coupling.

Mine is raised up with spacers, works fine.
