Right i'am wasting my time with breaking the 325i touring, everyone is a pennyless time waster. ive had lots of promises for things and i will have them but one payment for a heater valve.

i want a 325i again anyway, and i'am pretty pissed of at the fact my IS lip on the 318i is getting stone chipped to death and some fooked has scratched the side of the rear quarter panel and looks a mess so i dont want to use it as a daily no more, but still want an e30 as my daily iam thinking a decent 325i touring would probably set me back £1500 +

So the car stands me at £550 time i paid to get it back home. it will need one new inner arch and outer arch like 95% of e30s on the passenger side but it can wait for now, i would budget £400 for this later in the year

mainly i want to get the front end sorted, wierdly enough when i removed the se skirts there were like new behind them even in the original holes where the skirts clip into :?

here are the pictures, the other side is similar but has about one less hole. ive dug as much out as i can find

Image

note the snapped arb bracket, lovely sailed though its mot :S

Image

I know a fool and his money blah blah blah

But what sort of money would i be looking at to sort it out, i had a quote from one person at £200 but i thought this seemed too cheap and probably be utter shit ?

i'am looking at two factory jacking pads in footwell, and around 4-5 patches in each front inner arch

ive seen people save worse, and i need some scrap to spend my money on my 318i touring is boring it needs no work :D

if its just a daily turd cant you do a 'cold' repair, ie P40 aka hairy mairy + sikaflex for good measure :D

ive got a welder and did i all once before but would struggle on tricky bits i can do a simple plate, i want someone who knows what they are doing ideally, so its going to last.

its just going to be a daily turd but i still want it to be solid with metal as it will bug be knowing its full of p40 :D

I dont think you know what you want Alex!

You sold the 325i sport because it was to juicy as a daily and now you want a 325i touring as a daily. :?

Petrol costs aside, do not waste any money on that 200k+ piece of festering scrap.

It owes you £500 and you're looking to spend that again on welding. Fook that, frag the turd and buy a better car for £1000-1500!

Why don't you just put an engine in the 318i touring and be done with it?!

I'd never welded before I did the repairs in my resto thread. It's not tricky, you just have to break the repair up into simple shapes.

The jacking points won't be too hard, but that rust looks like it's spread to the actual chassis leg...

Exactly, although i have really tried to find some on my 318i and i just cant, even when we had it up on a ramp at dezzys there wasnt a thing under neith it that looks even a little bit frilly. another reason why i'am loathed to use it as a daily

You got a welder mate, chop out what you need to and weld it yourself... Dont blow your money on someone else doing perfect welds when your never gonna make the car a show winner so to speak and using it for work...

And I'd by a cheap pushbike and ride that distance to work, especially if you work in a set place and dont actually use the car in the day... Keeps you fit too. And all the cash you save on fuel you can spend on the turdios

:D to be honest i would rather cut the rot out and paint the edges and leave it as a hole, anything wrong with that, obviously the footwells would need to be water tight

That inner wing looks shocking mate and will just be the tip of the iceberg.

How come its not fragging well ? it looked to have a few morsels ?

From the pics you've posted its a fragger not a fixer - even to bodge it to an MOT'able and reliable daily state will be a lot of work - and then for what - so you can do a very thirsty 2-3 miles each way to work in it when its going to drink fuel and not even get properly warmed up ?

You can get your money back easy and make a profit on this turd mate - just needs a bit more effort

That is scrap. Any time or money spent on that turd is down the drain.

Has it got a ticket on it ? If so get out the hairy mary and plop it up, even just to keep your feet dry !

That way you can drive it as you frag it ! :D Get the trim tidied up and served, the HLWW and the foglight kit.. Them items should nearly pay for the car and with a couple of standard seats fitted , the car is still useable, albeit epically council :)

think back to the weldathon you had on that cabby, it's a very sad job unless there's something worthwhile at the end..
that 200k turd had it's day long ago, get it fragged you know it makes sense

I took your advice guys, and used some executive bridging compound, all finished with a lashing of seam sealer and stone chip shield.

ready to smoke about in :D

going to cut the rot out the front inner wings and just paint the clean edges, if that makes sence so it looks like the hole is suppose to be there

I'am sure steve and pete will be pleased with my efforts :D

Fine Selection of materials :D
