What age? I drove about in a few 2.0 CD's and T4's back in the late 90's early 00's.
The 2.0 was OK and in CD spec gave you all the creature comforts, really comfy leather seats and a cracking stereo. The T4 was mighty quick but very thirsty.
The 1.9TD is particularly gutless.
The V70 is definetly the better car and The R Spec cars are now fairly cheap and the ultimate sleeper. Passed my test in one of those, then crashed it about a week later. Needless to say as it was my dads company car they weren't too chuffed.

Rob, dont think so, certainly the older ones didn't.
Nissan and Renault share engines.
At one time Volvo cars (not truck and bus) was owner by ford so they did share components, also the original S40 \ V40 shared the platform with the mitsubishi charisma so may be a chance they shared engines.
Only know this stuff as my Dad was a production manager for volvo truck and bus before they pulled out of Irvine in 2002.

Christ the old 400 series cars is going back to when I was a kiddie. Was at the launch of the 480 in the main factory in Gothenberg, must have been about 89/90 and I thought it was one of the best looking cars I had ever seen. The bucket seats were pretty epic and the digital parts of the dash made it look like knightrider.
Then again I was 9 years old, it probably looked as shit then as it does now.
You could be right about the renault link back then as I know the 1.7T engine from the sportier 340 GLT have ended up in some renault 5's over the years.
