lost my old thread on here. probably me losing the plot tbh ;-)

bought the car back in April 2011 like this:

Image
Image
Image

Image

BMW 320 IS shell italion import
rust free shell
3.0 M3 engine and gear box (which has only covered aprox.80k)
25mm VW master cylider
15 x 7 BBS RZ wheels with good 195/50/15 Toyo 888s
K&N sports filter
New sports clutch just fitted
ARP crank bolts and new shells when bottom end off
Omp 6 point cage mounted on plates and welded
motordrive carbon kevlar seats
carbon door cards
brake bias adjuster
sabelt 5 point harnesses,
plumbed extinguisher and 12v cut out
Fully polybushed all round
adjustable camber mounts
alloy rear shock mounts
schnitzer coilover front & rear coilover legs
e30 M3 alloy front wishbones
uprated H&R antiroll bars
Mazda RX7 4 pot calipers on 280 mm brakes
Hawk pads all round
front and rear strut braces,
quick shift,
ZM coupe diff,
lightweight fibreglass bonnet and boot,
full stainless exhaust
BTB 6 branch steel manifold.

am sure there is some more stuff on it and going to get Martyn Scott to look it over. it was Martyn who took me out in his E30 at Brands which has a 3 litre in it and it was very impressive.

I was a bit unsure about the bigger 6 cylinder in the smaller car but given the E30s run the 2.3, 2.5 and 2.7 6 cylinder engines then why not. the priginal engine (S14) is a de tuned M3 lump at 2 litre so lighter and more agile mid corner I hear.

went on the rollers at Sanspeed in Bexleyheath...

296 BHP and AFR running spot on which was main reason for going.

standard 3lite lump on std cams with K&N filter and 6 branch manifold.

Removed inner left headlight for more air.

Image
Image

changed the filter from K&N to a newer one which breather through the front as well as sides = 5 more bhp. 20 squids too. bonus

change of pads to mintex 1155 (jesus they make some dust)
michelin pilot cup sport tyres on some nice motorsport white wheels.

kind of brings me up to date as some jobs to do in march 2012 ready for this season.

racelines and road tyres now sold
carbon style canards for front wing
new team dynamics 1.2 in gloss black (ET 15) on way in. on cup sport tyres
new car cover for winter
300mm front discs
Orange EBC trial pads front and rear
brake ducting
Full set of Polycarb windows with sliders (ACW Motorsport)

car is currently SORN and resting

Image

Image

plans to do Snetterton in may, RAF marham in April, few brands things and would love to do Spa again this year. would only do the ring now if it was an organised track day like Destination Nurburg as tourist days are just stupidly busy now.

That's awesome, could do with a heat shield around the filter though. . . how do the wilwoods cope with 300bhp?

Correct Dan. Simon is well and have been racing in the compact series and doing very well. He still has a couple of 2002s so plenty of toys. He was planning to put the s14 from my car in one of them once rebuilt!!

Inlet temps seem to be ok. Wilwoods cope. Going bigger discs and orange ebc pads all round as a trial. Might upgrade rears to two pots as well

Better turn in at front. Noticed it at brands through surtees and clearways.

Much more rear end grip at speed and feels more stable.

Ah cool !

I loved the car and really wanted to see it in action but as you say, that weekend (although the weather could not have been better) was a nightmare.

But...

Lesson learnt !. I am going to do a "destination Nurburgring" trackday next time instead, no "pay per lap", no bikes, no busses, and the fee's if something goes wrong are a lot more realistic.

I managed to get four laps in which was still amazing fun but I was not able to really get a "proper" bit of driving in. It was my second trip there.

I also have lots planned for my car and the rebuild has already begun. I cannot wait to get it back there !!

agreed andrew. going for a bigger discs as possible next ;-)

looks like you car is coming on well Will and good luck with that. as per my thread I am not obthering with TF days anymore as pointless. I had not been for 2 years and that was for a reason. thought I would go along as we were doing Spa but it was even worse.

I first started going in 2001 when you could lap all weekend and not a brit insight. mostly bikers, german locals, some swiss and dutch. Top gear fcuked all that up with that episode they done!

I know the guy that runs the DN event so let me know and i am looking to do the one in october maybe.

Come on guys, you make it out to be really bad, you can still get some good laps in on the TF days, you just have to be a little smarty pants and get in early and or late during the days. :)

Its has got crazy of late. It was even packed at opening times. Only mid week works now but who has time to do that!

Last time was in 2010, it was a busy german bank holiday weekend, still manages to get 20 laps in.

Don't get me wrong, the good old days are gone, but there are still a few good tf days to be had.

Those carbon style canards for the front wing - where did you get them???
(I know, i should just do a web search really!!!)

Did you just bond them on, or do they fix a bit more securely than that???
