hi guys, need to replace the tyres on my 14's - was hoping to upgrade to 15's but that'll have to wait!
anyhow my local tyre place can do me either Firestone tz200 or hankook optimo k415's, £100 difference between them. Anyone any experience of either or reccomendations? cheers!

The firestone is a good tyre I had these on the rear on my 14" BBS before I punctured one and they were pretty grippy.

I'd be looking on Black Circles or somewhere similar to get the prices checked and get tyre reviews to compare them both.

There are some recommended tyres in the Wiki:

But the list could do with a lot more entries.

try www.tyresreview.co.uk they have reviews on a huge amount of tyres
I have used these guys before. Come with a good few options with reviews, usually fairly priced..Topblag wrote:I'd be looking on Black Circles or somewhere similar to get the prices checked and get tyre reviews to compare them both.

I'm currently dithering over which tyres to buy. I was going to go for Toyos but I keep reading that they don't last very long. Does anyone have experience of Falken ZE912? It's a similar price to the Toyos but are they longer lasting?
Willf, I'm looking here, they're pretty cheap. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m53b0s0p0/Car ... 15%5C_inch

912s have mixed opinions on here; they seem to be a love-or-hate rubber. The 452 is the only Falken tyre with consistently good opinions, which is why it's in the Wiki.

the 912 is fine on more of a cruiser, than a fast road car.
i've had no issues when running them on an e36 and now on the e39

Surely you could get some 15's with used tyres for a similar price to new 14" rubbers???willf wrote:hi guys, need to replace the tyres on my 14's - was hoping to upgrade to 15's but that'll have to wait!

Depends what you're looking for of course, but I've been doing this and not paid 'new' prices for a fair while now!!!
Got a set of four 205/55/15 bridgestones that 'look new' on ebay for about £120 recently.
Then just yesterday picked up some 16" alloys with tyres from a member on here (cheers Tom!!)!!!

so far so good. the e39 is heavy and eats rear tyres. they are as quiet as the good year excellence that were on there before and grip as well when pressing onCloggy Saint wrote:Are they longer lasting than the toyos, and how are they for road noise? Durability and as quiet as possible are my priorities, I drive like a pensioner so ultimate grip isn't highest on the list.

Have you checked the actual age of the tyre though? Buying used tyres is a real risk if you can't go and physically check them before money's handed over.miniblob wrote: Got a set of four 205/55/15 bridgestones that 'look new' on ebay for about £120 recently.
