Should you always fit new pads when fitting new discs?
Although not strictly E30 related I assume the answer is the same for all cars, hence I've put it in this section (please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place). I recently bought some new discs and pads for my other halfs Peugeot but when I fitted them I realised that the pads were the wrong ones. The pads that were on there had plenty of life left in them so I just fitted the new discs and left the old pads on.
Is this a bad thing to do? Everything I've read says that you should fit new pads when fitting new discs but I've not found anywhere that says why this is.

I guess it will depend on the way the disc has worn,if it's grooved badly, then the pads will be grooved as well,so until the high points have worn off,the brake will have dramatically reduced 'rubbing' area....
Seem to remember that when I re-built my cabbie,I found almost new pads all round, but horrible rusty discs,so I just fitted new discs.
