Afternoon

As it seems I stand better chance of finding rocking horse poop before I locate a map light mirror loom, can anyone tell me how to replicate?

Where does it run to, and via? Is it the accessory board behind the glovebox?

Cheers.

Connects to a two pin plug in the passenger speaker area, not the accessories socket.
Purple/green and brown wires, and may be tucked away behind the speaker.

Purple as the main colour says it's live in ignition switch positions 1,2 and 3.
If it was live all the time, the main colour would be red.

Wires can be fished over above the headlining from one of the existing interior lights, and I believe it's possible to rearrange the switch wiring in the mirror so that you can turn on the map permanently. You will probably have to include a blocking diode in the 'switched' wire from the interior lights to prevent the map light switch turning on the interior lights as well.

I have done a couple , you need to convert the switch to on, off ,on type by adding an extra terminal into each switch . I ran the map lights off the interior lights .

to fit one properly the loom is available from the dealers for peanuts,

this drops down the inside of the passenger side windscreen pillar and plugs into the cars loom behind the speaker

I guess that the simple way is to remove the plug from the mirror wire and replace with a pair of ordinary connectors, run a twin wire down the pillar, take the earth to the dash earthing point behind the glovebox and the feed to the loom plug, cut the feed wire a couple of inches from the plug and attach the other mirror wire to the loom end. This will leave the supplied loom plug dangling by it's earth wire,so it's an easy fix if the 'proper' loom turns up!
