you could try googling "smart repair" as there are places that can try and fix the scratch without getting too involved...i cant recommend anyone i'm afraid, perhaps someone can?

If you could post some pics up would help - it will depend how deep the scratches are as to whether you can polish them out yourself or whether the bodyshop is the only way.

i had good results using cocktail sticks to finely apply primer/paint/lacquer then using 3000 grit to wet sand it and then some farecla g3 compound, and then polish.
this cost me around £15 but its obviously not perfect as the colours are hard to match due to original paint has oxidised over the years.hope you get it sorted mate

buy a small tn of touch up paint from paints4u , around £10, and some g3 compound from halfords and an applicator waffle pad

1st try the g3

deep scratches, i once removed a biggun in rear quater, as above filled it with a line of touch paint, left for a week to dry/settle in, then g3 to smooth/blend the touch paint, good clean, polish, wax after, and it was 99.9% dissapeared and looked magic, very impressed for a 1st time go at something like that
