Just always wondered what it would be like to have it on a car really, will see what happens in the future, but at least for now will concentrate on getting the car 100% or as near as I can.

cheers for the NEGATIVE and positive views/comments.

I can't believe how much of a f*ck people are prepared to give about another persons suspension.. I quoted an accurate price three posts in.. airbags are ok, I ran hydro's for a while (and still have the setup) coilovers are good for performance, springs and shocks are fine.. I don't see what the big deal is.. and before some clever c*nt chimes in with 'oooh but it'll ruin the handling of this rusty 80's repmobile'.. no it won't.. not for you it won't anyway.. cos you won't be driving it.. it's not your car... it's the o/p's..

thanks tom for the quote and advice, am going to put it on hold and have a good think for now, will probably just end up getting coilovers to be honest, but will see what happens.

no worries.. sorry, I'm just being a grumpy git.. but there's so many stupid replies from people who wouldn't know the first thing about modern air-ride systems but are full of clever opinions and stuff they heard from someone else.. either that or they are 'scene' or 'anti scene'.. personally its your car and you will always have fans and haters whatever you do with it :)

true that, I thought the whole point of a forum like this is to have a variety of cars anyway and basically keep the e30 alive??! Maybe I was wrong?

funk no! the point of a forum is for losers to have a pop at anything including how kids today have no respect / suspension heights / 'council' modifications and of course general clever-clever 'you paid too much for that' posts :D and all this whist simultaneously telling everyone with a bubble of rust under the paintwork to frag it and give up..

I kid.... but seriously... take all opinions and 'facts' on here with a pinch of salt.. unless it's Brianmoooore obviously..

Yes, I think I'e sort of realised this actually haven't been on here long, but its quite clear some people are very self-opinionated and set in there ways, but we can't all be perfect.lol :D

The difference is tom im joking when I say stuff like in this post about air ride. I wouldnt do it on an e30 but this isnt my car its his. And if he decides to do it one day fair does. Some people on here dont joke and feel they have some dictators like right over other peoples cars so dont get all pissy at me joking about when some people start wars over oem air filters and how an engine bay should look

#Facepalm..

so why are bags so bad then Verde? a modern double walled airbag and new generation pressure controllers give you the same ride and rating as the equivalent spring but with the added bonus that you are, in effect, able to change the height and spring rate from inside the car.. have you ever even run a car with bags? or even been in a car running air-ride? or are you just quoting people on stance|works? so come on, I'd like a well formulated argument against the use of a modern airbag system and controller on a car that will never see the track? if you are going to come out with stupid comments such as 'bags are for shopping, not suspension' on a technical subject then you gotta be able to back it up with facts..

the O/P asked 'how much'.. not 'could you post some negative comments all over the thread on a subject you know nothing about'.. and as for the 'joking' comments I believe that makes you just another forum 'troll'...
verde wrote: And yes hard parked means static or one springs. Bags are for shopping not suspension
WRONG

hard parked indeed.. hard-parking is ACTUALLY used as a derogatory comment towards cars that are all dressed up with performance parts, ground scraping suspension and stupid graphics but will never see the track... a posers chariot..

and I'm out..

it's not a laugh when the O/P is not in on it.. is a newbie.. is asking technical advice or how much something might cost.. and your answers are all derogatory..
I'm not suggesting you should be a fount of all knowledge but slagging off a certain suspension type as if you have intimate knowledge of it and then not actually having used it is a bit daft and not knowing what a scene term such as 'hardparked' means after chucking it about the place....

don't mistake 'opinions' for 'facts'... don't listen to people on here! :D

also, don't take any of this crap personally.. it is a forum after all..

sorry guys.. I'm actually not un-chilled! :) I just can't stand all these 'scene opinions' that get bandied about.. it's really puts my needle in the red :D

typical zone.

you say running bags 'costs ur soul and dignity.', 'Bags are for shopping not suspension'

have you realised your following a 'trend' too then

although you have no idea the ins and outs of bags.. you hate them because you are following someone else's opinion.

thats so hypocritical.

u wouldnt put it on a 25 year old rotter. ud put it on a smooth lined 70 grand audi estate with rotiform rims. or a golf mk5 or something where handling and all out performance wasnt the cars main design. a guy put bags on a lambo for example. whats wrong with his brain

But a Mk5 Golf would run rings around an e30? And that bagged s4 you posted? An s4 would make an e30 look like it was standing still!

I think maybe this has gone abit too far now. :D

I get the point now, after 3 pages of threads, most people strongly dislike air suspension.

Although the question I asked was has anyone done it and how much did it cost.

Not does everyone want to have a argument, was after advice thats all.

It wasn't ever set in stone anyway and I think I'd rather spend that money restoring mine.

Think this thread is finished now, unless anyone else feels they need to slag off all differnt types of suspension set up?? Shall I create a thread for that instead saying "lets have a argument about suspension set-ups? :teehee:

Cheers :D

At least you'd expect the hostile replies!! Don't let it put you off here, it's just quiet!!
Air rides have their place, it's just ruined by people doing daft things with them and going to extremes. Slightly oversized wheels are fine, slightly stretched tyres are fine- it's the massively oversized rims and ridiculous stretch that gives it a bad name.
3K is a big wedge to blow on air, spend 1k on some very nice suspension and 2k on some very nice wheels and you will be praised for a wise choice 8)
Or spend 3k on a bit of a resto and have a v.nice car :D
