Was checking through the vacuum hoses that are connected to the IVC and air intake etc today, found a few that needed replacing. After looking up the part numbers, the diagrams didn't seem to match up with how the hoses were assembled on my 318is...

Below are the hoses that need replacing..

Below is where they where housed..

Hose A connects up under into the throttle housing and to the hose running to ICV.

Hose B runs up to the rubber boot (which connects the Air intake to the throttle housing). Both hoses have been out before as they're bound in insulation tape to seal up the holes in them. Is there a chance these have gone back the wrong way?

I sure I'm a silly arse but on the parts diagrams they appear to be set up the other way(diagrams below). I'm struggling to tell as they don't appear the same shape and size on the diagrams as they are in the flesh, but don't know how detailed the diagrams are. Its always been set up that way and I've had the car for over 3 years and have driven it like this all the time.

Just a bit flummoxed and hoped you's lot could slap some sense into me..

If this is set up correct could someone just let me know I have the part numbers right..

Hose A 13 54 1 739 248
Hose B 13 41 1 721 909

Many thanks..

Hose B might be longer brand new than displayed in the above pic, as one end has been cut/perished/bitten off..

The part numbers are correct, however your hoses are connected up the wrong way around currently.

Currently you have:

part 25 (top diagram) ---> part 14 (top diagram)
part 17 (top) ---> part 16 (bottom).

This should be as:

25 -> 16
17 -> 14

I thought as much, cheers. Was driving me bonkers earlier whilst looking at those diagrams.

Like I said earlier; its been like that since I've owned the car (over three years). Do you know how this may have effect the engine??

Whilst tracking down a vacuum leak I replaced all the original hoses (which were actually fine) with a few bits of generic stuff as per:

Thanks TheDutch... This is just what I have been looking for to read through..

And thanks John320.. I was flossing through your thread earlier today..

I noticed signs of coolant leaks under the inlet manifold today so might do the whole lot. Looking forward to it too.. satisfying pulling off, replacing and cleaning..
