Hello I'm new to the forum, I'm looking after my friends 1983 316 Auto and have just found a pretty large fuel leak!!
I'm no mechanic, but I'm very happy to get my spanner out when required, but looking online it seems there isn't a lot of literature on the 316 engine.
From my small amount of research I've found the car has been fitted with a weber carb, this seems to be leaking slightly as there is fuel/gunk getting into the air filter, it looks like it needs a new gasket at the top where it connects to the air box, so any help on where I can find this would be great.
The main issue though is a lot of fuel escaping either from the carb, or a fabric covered hose that comes from it (the hose has plastic clips either end), this hose connects to a disc shaped thing that has arrows on it (not sure what this is, I'm guessing it's a fuel pressure regulator but it doesn't look like any I've found online), this disc shape thingy also has a gasket in the middle... I can get pictures if this helps?
Anyway I hope someone can help, there are a few other jobs to look at on the car, but the main one is the fuel obviously!
The car started and drove fine btw before I took the airbox off to see the carb and the fuel pouring out!
Thanks
Darren

Not familiar on this but my bike if the float needle is stuck it pours fuel out of a breather hose. Usually gets the rap with a hammer treatment.
