It should go off when the Overhead Panel Button is pressed, or the Brake light test works, Are your Brake Lights Working?

The check light should come on, when the ignition is turned on, regardless of wheter the vehicle has been standing overnight or not. do the other functions on the Check control work? ie Coolant level etc...

When you start the car the check light should be on and the Brake Light warning light should be on on the overhead panel.

When you touch the brakes both should go off.
