I'm looking at buying a Z3, does anybody know what problems I might encounter with the 2.0 2.2 2.8 M52 Engines.
I've heard there might be a problem with Nikercil (Spelling?)Linings.

i've just found this thread from when we bought it. Its not alot different now tbh. Although its done about 7 miles in the last 6 months. It needs a big clean!
Started off with a clutch problem about 2 weeks after the last MOT. Came home with no gears, to cut the long story short. I couldn't fix it quick, she got fed up and we've ended up with a mk4 golf. So i fixed this in the end, cracked pressure plate. But i've replaced the whole clutch system along the way. New master and slave, braided clutch line, new sachs clutch kit, fresh fluid the lot! Its lovely now but too late for us!
It drives 100%, engine is a beaut, no noisey tappets like alot of M52's now. Uses no fluids, oil leaks etc
I also changed the front outer ball joints on both arms for the last mot. With the solid e30 type ones. I've only ever routine serviced it in our time bar that fault.
the bad? honest as i can be, wheels need refurb, rear screen has a small split at the bottom in the middle and it needs re sealing as such as its not very water proof now. It lowers up and down fine but the mirco switch has gone so the electric motors don't work. Its in "manual" mode with the motors turned off as such so they aren't being damaged. Although they do work but the switch doesn't let them. Small Tescos ding in the passenger door. Drivers electric window is very very slow. A small patch of rust at the top of the A pillar drivers side.
I need it gone and will sell it £2000 no offers as this is a cheap drive away price for a 2.8. Thats what the golf cost us

Someone must have a crush Si. Surely this should have been moved on from by now? More than a little worrying that it's still being brought up IMO.Simon13 wrote:Bodger why don't you crawl back to the sh!thole to which you came. You'd be dangerous if you had a brains you were born with

Selling and being asked a question are different matters.
If Si had posted his car for sale then it would be removed. No questions.
But someone asked how are they, any issues? Si replied by saying no real issues with steel liner and I have one for sale, He was then asked for details so he posted a few details and a price.
I don't see any issues here, except for perhaps Si's reply - but I see no complaint from the recepient.
