Wonder how much it might cost for a main dealer to change four discs and pads? (On 318is)
I could sod around with it myself, shin my knuckles and swear a lot, or heaven forbid take it to Kwik-Fit or ATS (never seem popular on here). But wonder how much, all in, BMW would charge?
Thanks

I wouldn't take it to a dealer, OR Kwik fit etc. Find a trusted local garage (By recommendation preferably) and get them to do it. It's not difficult or expensive

Kind regards

Two hours labour should cover everything assuming there is no handbrake issues apparent when the rear discs are removed.
I am based just west of London and do stuff like this for a living as do many others here. By using an enthusiast specialist you will be secure in the knowledge that your 'baby M3' is in good hands !

Haha! I have heard of it, but I've reason to suspect an ulterior motive for such a low price.DanThe wrote:Ever heard of TAY GARAGE? They are the dogs, you can even get an M3 conversion while your there and all for £37.99

Dont go to quick fit. I went for the exact same thing, screwed me around for an hour looking then quoted me £560 for discs and pads. Rang a local garage and got the same parts and fitted for just over £300. Tos*ers.

what was previously mention? £65 upto £100 plus per hour for main dealer rates? id buy the parts myself and take them to a local garage for fitting . especially on older cars like these. id have thought 2 hours would be a bit tight for 4 discs and pads though. id expect 3 hours possibly 4 depending on how long they stand back looking at it with a frown ,shaking their head whilst scratching their chin and drawing air through their teeth.

For a garage with a hydraulic lift, a mechanic who doesnt fook around and all the required tools available to hand I would say its easily doable in 2 Hours - 2.5 absolute tops.
4 wheel bolts
4 caliper bolts
1 screw holding the disc on
Unless my memorys slipping there isnt any more to it than that
Once its up in the air with the wheels off it should only take a few minutes per wheel.
You could do it with a trolley jack and axle stands in not much longer than that.
A mechanic in a fully kitted garage should not need an hour per wheel to change disks and pads on an E30

Last time I went in a landrover dealer (3 yrs ago) they wanted £400 to change the PADS on a rangerover or disco. That IS taking the piss!
