When you make your sump gaurd make sure you have a bit covering the steering rack, especially near pinion.

I was planning to bolt it to the steering rack and have it extend back to the anti roll bar to protect that from catching on things :)

The need to raise the engine indicates that the car is way to low......

If you want to go super low, choose a different car.

Is there enough clearence under the bonnet ?

A quick guide to being slammed

1. There is no such thing as too low.
2. There is no such thing as low enough.
3. If your car is drivable, you're not low enough.
4. If sparks dont fly, your rides too high.
5. Shock travel is for bitches.
6. It's not so bad being down & out.
7. The lower you go, the better it feels.
8. Wheel gap is for ///M owners.
9. Oil pans are scheduled maintenance.
10. We don't get stuck on speed bumps, speed bumps get stuck on us.

Haha, this is hilarious...but seriously, fit a sump guard and you will be laughing!

How's your engine going after a couple of cracked sumps?

What ever you do dont mount it where the steering rack is mounted.

There is 2 holes in the middle of the subframe going all the way through just bolt it to them.

You're just going to have to be a bit more realistic with the drop on your car if you want to drive on normal roads with it. It needs raising!

Nope, not a wind up, the car is very low, we convoyed down last year to Beaulieu and met up with numerous other cars and this was on the last stop we made to take people in on the convoy.

I've been driving like this for the best part of a year. This and the exhaust is the only things I've had to replace :) Not many people drive really low E30's and I'm not sure why. The sump is the only issue and a sump guard will hopefully sort that problem. Guys don't hate because your not man enough to be different.

The fact that it's illegal is one very good reason! That, and the fact that there aren't that many people around who want to say "look at me, I'm a total idiot".

I just quite like my car to look different to every other e30. When I went to the german show I was shocked at how all the e30's looked the same. Amazes me how your all happy just to copy one another.

I like the look of low cars like many people, not sure why that generates so much hate? Its not a new thing to run a really low car people have been doing it since day one. If you think driving a low car makes you look like a total idiot your clearly very narrow minded and in my opinion probably quite a boring person.

I dont think its a matter of him liking and disliking it fella, I think its the legalness of it, being very illegal if you was to be stopped and tested by VOSA etc... And the danger to other if you was to loose control.

As for owners copying others, I dont think thats the case either, its a matter of people wanting the to look like they did when they left the factory with little mods or upgrades. And a matter of taste.

Mine, I want to look factory because there was nothing wrong with it when they designed it, dropping it to the floor doesnt make it look better

Now your comment on how it amazes you that everyone is happy to copy on another makes you seem to be the narrow minded one to me, thinking that everyone else must be wrong and your right

I think its narrow minded for people to hate someone's car because it doesn't look the same as there own car. I like the look of standard or OEM+ E30's but I like to add my own style. I personally wouldn't want an E30 looking like it just rolled out the factory because it isn't rare or classic. It's like someone restoring a Corsa back to factory condition, its not going to get noticed because its just a cheap car and there's loads out there

 Your lining yourself up for replies :chuckle:

The fact that they are being restored back to Factory DOES make them rare & classic, the ones that are being modded are the ones end up gone in a few years down the line. Because you seen a load at The German Show doesnt mean everyones E30's are like that, it means those who are interested in them are looking after them.

As for someone restoring a Corsa back to factory, they're not exactly a 'cult car' with a giant following that has a varied age range like the E30... So you can hardly compare.

Mine was nearly factory fresh and I picked it up for under 500 quid? Anyway your a nice bloke and helped me out with my original question so I don't wanna argue with you. We clearly have different idea's about what we do with our cars.

Before you say its fucked now its getting back to its former glory, that big dent in the rear quarter has been professionally repaired and then professionally painted by a BMW specialist garage. Now I just need a new wing and front valance and it'll be minty fresh with added lows :)

Proof of former glory:
