318 touring '90 M40 single pipe- back box needs replacing by tomorrow! I have a replacemnt but the junction flange bolts are headless, so Iam thinking of cutting them in between the flanges..firstly is it possible to cut right through ( have dremmel will try) secondly, are these 10mm bolts ( so I know what to get first thing) lastly the back box straps look ropey but salvagable, what problems may I face here, other than potential for snapped bolts etc..so what size are these?

I just have tomorrow as a window, in the street, before the school run, Mot on thursday & cambelt on Friday...!!

Hope folks can advise.

Bolts holding the join are 8mm,and the normal way of removing them is to cut between the flanges, as you suggest.
Rear box straps often turn out to be quite a bit worse than they appear when you remove them. Bolts are welded in place, but if they break they can be cut off and replaced with ordinary 8mm nuts and bolts.

Do you have a motor factors nearby? The straps are available aftermarket, Bosal part no. is 254-980 if yours are no good.
