After the last post about someone finding an early Henna 323i (that has never materialised, with or without custard) it got me thinking about my old mans old 323i. The car that started my affection for E30's being my first car memory, I will always remember rolling up to primary school back in the late 80's and instantly becoming one of the cool kids because of this car.

Anyway my dads best mate last night sent me a pic of the old turd, as I had the crazy idea of seeing if she was still alive and then trying to track her down

So here she is back in roughly 88/89

Image

Jim320i has already burst my bubble as she has not been on the road since 2000, so have literally no chance of finding her now.

Not 100% how I remember her, and that red grill (im told it was cool back in the 80's to colour code! 8O) but a nice early car I thought I would share

Yeah the grill is red, im sure its not a standard thing, supposedly it was quite a cool thing to have it colour coded in the 80's, cant say I like the red grills myself. Mind you my Tech 1 has colour coded grills  but it is diamond schwartz so not quite a garish as the red 8O .

Do love the sport but would like a chromie, i will keep buttering up the misses i think :D

Those front spoilers were quite a common accessory but I can't remember who made them.

I looked at a near-concours White C plate 318i years ago which had the biggest history file ive ever seen - but it was a 4 pot and its white colour coded grilles were enough to stop me buying it

My first E30, a 1984 Henna Red 320i, also had a colour coded grille and bootlid spoiler (done by a previous owner):

How rare are Henna Red 2 doors?
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

That front spoiler makes up part of the BMW Aero kit for '82- sept '85 models and were made by Pfeba.

Yeah defo not around now been off the road since 2000

Was kinda expecting it too be dead or me to get a major kicking off the misses if it was not as I would have had to have had it and no doubt would have had to have thrown plenty of cash at it............

Good to see the old girl again tho, and now I want an early chromie  now will the misses allow me to keep the Tech 1 and get a Chromie..... off to cook dinner and butter her up :D

Plus we'll let you into the cool gang for ones and you wont have to sit on your own at meets anymore

So a non sunroof 2 door must be pretty rare?

Well, after a long discussion with kedge neither of us have the room/time to take this on but it looks a decent opportunity for someone....

Has T&T on it too

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C273562

Well it looks like its Henna anyway, is anyone brave enough to take it on winkeye

I rang the owner this afternoon about that, very elderly chap so wasn't easy to get any great information on it. T&T till Oct and he said it has a few rust scabs. Looks like it need attention to the battery tray and under the washer bottle as well.

Was really up for this but had no idea what i was going to do with it and knew it'd take too much time away from my Polaris chromie.

That 316 has the same front spoiler as the OP's 323i - what are the chances of that happening?

Quite a few of the really early ones seem to have those spoilers, think most Henna ones i've seen have had one.
