hi to all ,
since having my car back after a year of it been restored
,iv now filled up and driven my sport around for about 165miles ,only problem been that when she gets to half a tank i fill her back up
so basicly shes done 165miles on one tank !!,i used to be able to get at least 350 out of her before ,she was given a service just before she went in to be resprayed but i havent as yet ,but will tomorrow put a fresh tank of fuel and some injector cleaner through
i have noticed that when i brim her with a full tank it smells from the rear of petrol ,but i cant see any leaks ???

any other ideas would be great

Confused. You say you drive 165miles then put half a tank in to fill it(brimmed your word) thus that to me says 165miles from half a tank??

To get a real MPG fill the car to the top. Drive X miles. Fill the car to the top again with Y gallons. Divide X miles by Y gallons to get MPG. Thus fill the car. Drive 50 miles. Add say 5 gallons. 50/5=10MPG.

If you fill the thing all the way up to the very top of the fuel filler there is an air pipe that may get blicked (with fuel) this can leak, or not allow the fuel in the filler pipe section to go down, thus it could slosh out of the fuel cap area.

1/2 tank to 165miles seems quite ok to me!

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

Sorry to confused , I'll explain again I never let or try not to get lower than half a tank
But I have put in the equiverlent of a whole tank in and only got 165 miles from it .
I used to get at least 300 from it if not slightly more

Did this restoration involve a new fuel tank or a new instrument cluster?
