Okay..
I love my car.
im pretty sure a lot of you feel the same way about your car haha .

Well heres the deal.
1990 325i
m20
5 Spd.
No Fuel No spark

Things I have done:
-Replaced Crank Position Sensor
-Checked fuses
-Replaced fuses anyway
-Tested coil(passed)
-Checked Fuse towards battery
-Checked main relay

So Im completely stumped.. and i love this car dearly. So any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

Ah! A guinea pig!

I've been working all week on a system to solve exactly this problem:

Okay went through this.. this is what I got

Coil tested good.
Car cranks.
Found out I need a fuel relay.
And I still have no spark..
My cps checks out just fine..
So what could be next?

Where the chart says you need a fuel pump relay it is inaccurate. It's possible that the relay is at fault, but more likely that it isn't being activated.
If you have an engine that cranks, but have no spark or fuel pump activity, you either have:
a) A duff CPS.
b) A supply missing to the coil or ECU for whatever reason, or
c) A duff ECU.
a) is the most likely, and c) by far the least likely.
b) can have many causes, including ignition switch, immobilisers, fusible link (rear batteries only), poor connections at the battery terminals, DME relay, etc.

Hi rabbit. Thanks for going through the flowchart, and you've brought out the Big Guns (brian and will) to help you. Follow their advice over anything you see in the Wiki.

I've since amended the flowchart, so it's a new version posted at the top of this page now. To help with it, a clickable version is now in the Wiki with better explanations of each step:

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... oubleshoot

It still has teething toubles, so give us as much info on your problem as you can, and we'll get you fixed.

Sorry it took me so long to reply..

Unfortunately.. it was the timing belt

Took off the cap and found the rotor not moving when I started it..

Same thing happened to me, so I feel your pain :(

Unfortunately, you can't just swap the timing belt now; you have take the head off and inspect the damage internally. If you're lucky, you'll have only bent three of the twelve valves and the head can be restored. If you're unlucky, it's new engine time :(
