This is a current Work In Progress file for the Wiki:

EDIT: PROPER CLICKABLE SOLUTIONS!

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... oubleshoot

Can the technically-apt of you please cast your eye over it and point out the major flaws, or anything I've missed?

Please note: Wiring between components is not included in this troubleshoot.

Needs to be made idiot-proof.

Example;
'Check green wire behind glovebox'.....I know that you mean; is there a plug with a green wire loop or a plug with a green/red and a green wire and to check for continuity.

Example;
Fuel pump relay.

I know it's the one with a green/violet wire attached to it's bum...

Example;
DME relay

I know it's the one with 5 terminals,and red/white wires attached to it's bum...

But do the guys who we hope will use the chart? :D

I appreciate the comments, daimlerman. The idea is that each terminal box (DME, Fuel Pump, Green Wire) will be clickable, explaining further how to test each component and what to look for. Testing the wiring for each component will also be included, but I can't put all that in the chart because it would be humungonormous.

That's really good. Very helpful as always! The wiki is a very interesting read.

Right, this one was a proper knockout. I'd really appreciate you guys reading this one, because it may prove to be the most useful document on the zone if it's not full of errors.

I put "won't start" into the search box on the wiki front page but it didn't seem to find this.

The wiki is great, but the search is still rubbish.

My main issue is that the Wiki limits what I can do; I wanted to make a fancy flowchart, but I'm stuck with tables and ASCII, so I expect it'll all look a bit rubbish for people looking at it on mobile phones.

Still, hopefully it'll solve at least one person's engine woes, and that's all it needs to do :D

(and another one for you, will :D )

As for the Search; to make it work, I need to generate about 1000 "dummy pages", so that what you type into the search box actually takes you to where you need to be. But I won't start making them until I'm happy that there's enough Technical Data to make it worthwhile.

I just tried putting TPS in and it didn't find anything!

I think that's the main reason people don't use it.

It has loads of useful stuff in it now, but it's very difficult to find.

Much easier to stick a question in here and let you post the link to the wiki!

Not criticising your fantastic efforts, by the way.

Wow it's looking good.

Love the fact that you can click on the various solutions and it takes you to a description of how to carry it out.
Very nice.

You're completely right :D It is a pain sometimes, and even I lose track of stuff because of it.

Once the Steering and Heating sections are done, I'll crack on with sorting out the search. The M10 engine will have to wait ;)
