Will do my best Dez,

You'll love this Chris, I'm having a cup of tea and a chat onboard one of our vessels in the town and the engineer rolls up onto the quay in his 330d conv with the top down and every spare space rammed with office carpet tiles that he 'aquired for free' -oh thinks me, they'll come in handy for something... so grabbed 30 or so with half a mind to catch any oil/crap from under the moordoor.

Cant do better than free! :D

Hi Harry hope you are well,

Remaining to do,

-Welding on underside, Saturday & Monday
-Final fabrication of RHD parts and pieces for glovebox/loom mounting, Next Sunday.
-Final Prep & Paint, hopefully within 6 weeks.
-Assembly of rear axle, hopefully before painting completed,

Before it comes back to me i want it to be weathertight, so headlining, sunroof, glass, doors.

I think a fair estimate is summertime completion, the S50 is getting shells in the next week or so, though saying that, given the brick walls that have been run into thus far it could well be another year before its finished, FOOKING CAR! :x

Right... I have a question to ask, lots of you will laugh i'm sure,

How have you found your general driving experience in LHD?

I was sat in a Sport Evolution on sunday, it just felt really natural with the driving position, despite the fact that i have never driven a LHD car or an M3 for that matter...

the comment thrown at me was, 'you are being meticulous with this' (restoration) why not do it properly?

Means sourcing the LHD parts necessary to make it good, not too much bother,

Once the s50 is up and running i could sell it as a drop in package to fund a good tight 215 s14.

RHD or LHD it will be a proper effort with the attention to detail, the ABS will be deleated regardless so not totally standard.

Just looking for some thoughts/opinions before i make up my mind at the end of the week,

Cheers,

lhd is simply not an issue.

how many hundreds of thousands of brits manage to drive around france every year in their rhd cars?

i had LHD cars as my main / only transport for 7 years or so (integrale and e30 ) without a problem. you learn to position the car slightly differently, and use the curve of the road to look down the inside. people always assume you'll see the same as when you're a passenger in a rhd car, but it's not as the driver of that car is going to use their position to get the best view which blocks yours!

sitting in tailbacks you can see more as cars progressively edge to the right. easier to park, easier to look at pretty ladies on the pavement

and, as you have noticed, even without driving anywhere and having owned a rhd e30 for years, just sitting in a lhd e30 feels totally different, it's so obvious the car was designed to be like that.

i guess the physical differences are only millimeters, but the combination of seat, pedal and steering wheel positioning all feel so much more 'right' in a lhd e30.
cheers,

LHD is more sellable (if you do) and a better driving position. But i would keep the ABS

For a 'bus' owner, Harry speaks a lot of sense ! :)

LHD is a no brainer as it will be more valuable, sellable and look right.

The do feel "right" in LHD format and you also get better brake feel thanks to not having a long flexible brake linkage like the RHD cars.

Drive a LHD car for a day or two and it will feel as natural as RHD. Did for me and i would not hesitate to drive a LHD car as a daily.

RHD here too!! You have done such a nice job of converting it, It would be a massive shame to cut it all out again. But if over all value is what you want it has to be LHD/S14. Both of which are gay :poke: :duck:

Ah. If you have all ready done all the RHD conversion work then that puts a different slant on it all.

My car park at work has a swipe card entry/exit, I occasionally take the p1ss and reverse out to save the hassle of leaning over.

Stick with the LHD it's fun.

Your Dressing to the left now then?

I get the reasons why all these homs reckon it should be a left hucker.

If I were to be driving it, it'd have the S50 left in and RHD would remain.

It's not my chariot or my coin. Do whatever you want with it, but do it NOW!

You don't want it finished and not be happy 100%
