Hi there. I need some advice on what kind of suspension to get for my car. The car is an e30 325 coupe. The car is used as an everyday car. Im looking for a tight ride but not as tight as having my teeth fillings fall out.

h+R cup kit (-35mm) with the matching anti roll bars still takes some beating for ride and handling and isn't silly money.

I'd reccomend the bilstein B8 with eibach springs, known as the B12 kit, it's generally accepted that this setup gives a better ride qulaity than the H&R's. upgraded ARB's are really the second stage and will make the ride significantly worse.
I give up, I thought B4's were stock, B6's were shortened 325i tech 1 sport equivalents and B8's were an alpina / hartge equivalent and upgrade for the M3.
But the bilstein website states the B8 is the shortened.

uprated arb's didn't worsen the ride on my car and i can't see how they would.

it's very simple, arb's of any size restrict the movement of each individual wheel, linking wheels together effectively increases the spring rate at each wheel.

The whole point of ARB's is to reduce roll without killing ride quality..

I have just put Sachs / Boge (4's I think) on my cab that I use daily, smooth as you like and did not cost an arm and a leg.

Yes that is true, for a given corner sprin weight a stiffer roll bar adds additional spring rate to one side worsening independant wheel movement and thus ride quality.Jhonno wrote:The whole point of ARB's is to reduce roll without killing ride quality..
copied from elsewhere.
Antiroll bars have no effect in a two-wheel-bump situation and allow compliance based on the (softer) spring rate alone. In a one-wheel bump, since only one end of the ARB is moving, it still acts less stiff than a spring of a rate that you would have to use to achieve the roll stiffness using springs alone.

B12 kit and Eibach ARBS, much reduced body roll and a taut but not crashy ride - on 205/55/15.
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap

B8s and Eibachs or just the B12 kit with Eibach arbs gets my vote!
Loved the setup on my iS and used that every day. I'll probably go more hardcore when its finished the rebuild though.
