im looking for a low ratio diff for my m52 conversion which seems hard to find or just too expensive.
question is can you use say a e28/e24/e34 diff, swap parts from your e30 diff and use? is it an easy process or something best left to a professional?

I used an e28 525e diff on mine, they come 2.93 or 3.07, you will need a medium case diff backplate from a 325i and the output drive flanges from it.

Not without modifying the axle carrier and possible the rear diff mount, I've got a spare rear axle beam so might look into doing this when the chromie goes back in the garage

If you can find a decent donor LSD (ideal being a cheap 3.15 LSD from a E36 6 pot) then it's easy enough for me to put that all into a E30 casing. That gives you a younger LSD pack too which is never a bad thing!

PM me if you want to talk prices... :)
