What a result! Get to keep the E28 and the Hartge rep in the family!spook wrote:Cheers lads, i paid less than four bags and it also comes with a fully stamped up service book, right up to a BMW oil service at 74205, the last inspection 11 being 66621.
Has had a new master cylinder, pressure regulator a fresh brake fluid this year,
I have been in bed all day today, a sausage roll from a garage going up to get the car done me right in,so no pics
I have sold my Hartge rep to our oldest son, he can pay me when he has finished uni, unlucky for him cannot afford to insure it,so its still mine until he can, all this just to sweeten the old woman

Certainly looks a nice 635, look forward to some pics!

Yes and no.spook wrote:The geezer also gave me the original BBS wheels, i think they are metrics, are they just scrap?
Your car will never drive better than with a new set of TRXs, but they must be new in terms of age of manufacture, not condition. Lots of really good looking tyres are dreadful and a couple of years ago some new old stock tyres were found. They were terrible too. TRXs harden very quickly - usually after about 3 years or so and become just dreadful. That wasn't a big deal back in the day when the mileage meant they'd be being replaced at about that time anyway.
New ones are superb - remember TRXs were standard fit on Ferrari, Jaguar and the 158 mph M635CSi - but they're about £350 or so each. So if you don't know that the tyres were manufactured in the last 3 years or so, I'd stay clear.
Good looking car. You can't beat a Highline IMV. Is that one of the earlier so called "Halflines" without the leather trimmed dash?

Highline is a misnomer - that's the car with the chrome trim. Shadowline is the black trim version. In Europe, the 'Highline' was available with 15 inch BBS Style 5's from the E34 and E32. Early E reg cars had the plastic dash.

The TRX GT's are a good tyre. If I'm right they are very similar in compound to the Michelin Pilot SX GT's MXX2/MMX3 which is one of the best tyres, period

Metric wheels are great looking wheels, especially the style 5's with a 16.3 inch (415) rim and they wear big 240 section tyres.

I thought i had bettter get my hands on one before they got out of my price range, I did get some info from the main dealer before i went to look at the car [cheers Pete] and it did originally come with Red leather.
The dash is plastic, the car also comes with cruise control, Mtech wheel and black headliner, ive not really had the chance to look at the car since i drove it home.
Thanks for the info chaps.

I've got the royal blue version of that on my desk at work. For that price I think it should go back in the box.Blitz wrote:adit wrote:here's something for your Christmas list mate:

Spook. A M635CSI front spoiler is a must on that car.

No M635 front spoiler for the '88 on cars, I'm afraid.

They just had the standard Highline spoiler and the earlier proper M635 spoiler won't fit.

Just waiting on one set arriving on a car tomorrow.
I bought this not long after I sent you the text the other day.
I think it's for breaking. I've seen that inner wing rot before and once you get in about it with the old knotted wire brush, it's not pretty. There's a flitch panel in there that will be non existent. The sellers £500 and a weeks work is hopelessly optimistic.
It's a non runner. Its been off the road for some time. It's got rusty wings, inner wings and a crumbly jacking point. I think its days are numbered.
Lots of good parts if anyone has recently bought a Highline and needs anything.

So it is. I should have looked at the picture. So much talk of Highlines. In that case, the M-tech spoier will fit perfectly. It is a bugger to fit thpugh involving removing the rubber strips.

I'd say it's worth a look.
The Motorsports aren't significant more valuable, but they do command a bit of a premium.
Macau and Lotus is a lovely combination, but at the end of the day, it's an E24. Check for rust everywhere.
