How would i go about insuring an E30 with a E36 2.8 in it?
Special brokers?
Will they be able to tell from registration number about the swap etc?
How do i explain to make sure the insurance is valid when i take a policy?

Cheers, Andy

Andy

My M52 chromie is insured through a broker called Keith Michaels, give them a call and ask to speak with a guy called Jeremy and tell him I sent you.

http://keithmichaels.co.uk/

I just told them the vehicle the engine was from and then listed all the other mods.

Cheers
Lee

And they rob you of NCB if you have over 9 years.
I insured my daily driver with them (with the intention of insuring my S50'd E30 with them at renewal time), had 12 years NCB when I started and came out with 9 years on my renewal! - obviously should of been 13. Was told they only work to a maximum of 9 years, so thats all I'll get.

Ok, its not the end of the world with 9yrs NCB, but Ive lost 4yrs NCB and it did cost me a little when I renewed - which wasnt with Sky!

Just a couple of things on this.

If you need the proof of 13 year NCB, PM me your details and I will arrange this.

Most insurers recognise 'maximum NCB' at 5 years and count to 9.

A price like that indicates our criteria is not met. We look for the best risks possible, especially for engine swapped vehicles.

I'm still shopping around, got £680 from Lancaster and £625 from Adrian Flux with 4000 limited miles. Hoping Carole Nash or Keith Michaels can sort me out...

Only advice I can give is stay away from Adrian Flux. Screwed me around for ages as soon as a problem came up

Always amazes me how many mixed reviews about different insurance companies!!!!!!!

I was very unahppy with the service from sky when I briefly insured my cabby with them (I'll leave it at that!!).
But at the same time, have never had an issue with Adrian Flux (various depts and cars) and have always found them very competitive, if not the cheapest, for my modified motors!! Just renewed my 2.7 touring with them at crimbo!!

Sounds like I might be trying lancaster for a quote on the cabby soon though!!

Yeah Lancaster are good, I even called them up to confirm the quote, I was so staggered by it.!

I went through Gocompare.com to reach my Lancaster £147 quote by the way.! I tried through Confused.com as they use a different panel of insurers and the cheapest insurer was performance direct with £280 a year.

Insurance just varies so much, I dont think they is any consitancy to quotes etc, if you get a good one go for it!

Mc above £147 is amazing, especially as you used confused too!

I think its just try everyone!
