E36 Question.

Another important thing, remove all the wheels and wire brush/wax oil the brake pipes, especially the rears.

Common MOT failure on E36's and E46's are corroded rear brake pipes.

While your there, remove the front splash gaurds and clean/waxoil the bottoms of the wings and clean/waxoil the rear arch lips.

A surprising amount of mud collects in these places.

When the standard front ball joints wear out, replace them with Meyle heavy duty ones from ECP, they are the same as E30 ones and better than the rubber encased standard E36 ones.

Ive a fair bit to crack on with, with this turd then! I think its had new rear brake pipes iirc. Ill do them anyway when i find a time slot.Its had very recent, new genuine BMW suspension as well.To be fair its had the money spent on it over the years,includeing recent times.Lots of main dealer invoices to be seen...and bearing familiar parts staff names from my constant visits for the Sport!

To all those that suggested leaveing the back headlight covers off to de-mist the lights,thankyou, as this has worked. However a strip and clean plus re-seal will be on the cards. For now though,its tidyed the front up no end!

I did this with mine, took them apart cleaned them up, and they were 10 times worse afterwards!

They looked 100 times better cleaned up mind before they misted up, and that didn't take long, hence why my rear covers have been off since, and that was over 4 years ago.

HID's don't help either as they don't get warm like halogen bulbs.

What about drilling a couple of holes in the back of the cover?

That would allow air to circulate without leaving the cover off?

Another touring thread!!!
Looks like mine, but better... Mine's a T plate 323 (sport seeing as people seem to be making something of that!), 210k bike carrying hack car. Has been good though did need to do a complete rear end rebuild, new brake lines and all 16 or so bushes in the back there. Absolute 'mare of a job. Is on bilsteins and eibachs and staggered sunflowers. Also has 328 lsd, e30 front arms etc.
Fav mods are def the sunflowers and the multifunction wheel...




I'd love a touring with a big engine, like Si's 'pina!

I looked into this, I believe you can use an e39 wheel but you need the wiper ring that mounts on the column from it as well as it has more contacts, think an e36 has 3 and the e39 possibly 5?

Further to the annoying head lights that were misty upon buying this car,they were also fecking dirty inside,which showed up more when i eventually got rid of the mist (courtesy of a helpfull tip on this very thread).....so today gave them a bit of loveing




Carnt tell from the photos but has made a hell of a difference to the front end!
I really need to stop pee peeing around with this and carry on with my e30
