Just a quick one,

Before the torque converter locks up on an automatic, the gearbox seems to be similar to a clutch slipping slightly on a manual car which i believe is normal however once the torque converter has engaged its just the same as a manual box in 5th gear and doesnt give the "slipping effect"

However when driving back on the M6 today the revs were around 4000-4500rpm in top gear and was giving the slipping affect. however didnt do this on the way down, and once i stopped for fuel it stopped doing it for a while but then started again.

Is this the start of something serious to go wrong with autobox or just symptoms of a typical old gearbox when it gets hot ?
