If so, yes you need it.

Replace it asap.
It stops the shock from bottoming out, which in turn will let your wheel hit your arch!

So get a pair.

its not a bump stop, its made of foam. and if the suspension closed enough to hit it, it would just knock it onto no.12. the plastic cup and smash the plastic..

Nope.
Believe me, I had my suspension done from some muppets years ago.
I had my wheel hit my arch and when I checked, one of these were missing of a shock, the side I hit.

It goes onto the shock by undoing the the topmount and sliding it on.
If your not convinced, then drive around without it.

well ive already stripped the spring off etc, going by the picture the foam bit (no.11) is as long as the plastic cup bit (no.12)

mine however is about an inch long lol, must have broke down some time ago.. i dont mean to challenge ur advice, just seems strange that foam is used as a bump stop 8O

no.13 and 14 is aslo missing..

Don't always trust RealOEM pics. They're representations, not photos.

The foam has disitigrated over time.
When you buy new, you'll see how firm it was to start with.

Yes as grrrmachine said, the illustrations on realoem aren't true representations of what a part looks like

When you use ReolOEM, you must always refer to the list as well.
If you've entered the VIN for your car, only the parts fitted will be the ones in the list.
The pics. are for part identification only, and are sometimes considerably different than the parts on your car. For instance, the gearbox support crossmember pic. is of a cast alloy part, such as fitted to the E34 or E36. not the E30 pressed steel item.
