M50 Regulator

I asked this on another forum but didn't get too much response. I have an older style fuel rail with the regulator on the fuel rail, I would like to use it in my S52 OBD2 swap, any issues with not hooking up the FPR plug on the engine harness. Will I get a CEL or a no start without a fuel pressure signal to the computer. The one response I got indicated I would get a CEL which I think is right but can some one confirm. Also I am more concerned running issues. I would like to run it because it is what I have on hand and it seems easier to fit.

The pressure regulator is on the end of the M50 and M52 rails, S52 uses M52 rail BTW.
I think you mean the fuel tank vent valve which is a solenoid valve with a two pin plug.

I dont see the benefit of using the early fuel rail as it just requires more fuel hose.
If you leave the vent valve unplugged it gives an error code but wont affect how the engine runs at all

Thanks Dan, I think we are talking about the same thing although maybe U.S. cars are different. here what I am calling a pressure regulator, http://www.rmeuropean.com/Part-Number/F ... 5124A.aspx it really also diverts excess fuel back to the tank. I know your are correct that that I will get a CEL so I guess I will source this part and do it correctly.

Just checked the part number, we didnt get that on E36, just the normal regulator on the back of the fuel rail. You would be better using the normal rail with the reg on the back IMO, easier to fit for a start
