I ask the question on the back of so many insurers only offering 'proper' discount to non web based clubs/forums..

So if you had to join a club (tbh just to get the discount) which would it be...and why?

BMWCC is the official club which is recognised by the majority of insurers.

Many on here don't bother with it, however the discounts on insurance and other services can sometimes more than cover the cost of the membership - and the monthly magazine is very good as car club mags go.

Reading between the lines, the insurers Ive contacted seem more concerned I dont have a drive...whats frankly mysterious is that by joining 'a club' Iam somehow suddenly insurable & I get over £100 off

Now Iam not complaining if I can get membership cheaply or even free but how that lowers my risk is beyond me...!

Because your more 'involved' with the car, which usually means you'd rather polish it and touch it than driftz and slamedzzz it.

Which, to be frank, is probably what I would do...although with a lot less polishing and touching..'you can love your BMW just dont luuurve your BMW..'

Im a member, its all good apart from the club forum, frankly I find it a waste of time, I find you post a question or just a comment, it takes weeks for a reply if your lucky, unlike E30ZONE where a reply is within seconds.

Adrian Flux give a discount if you are a member of Pistonheads. Not sure how they check.

the zone is epic and is way more use than any non web club imo, but they do have a point that most people with an internet connection (basically anyone) can join just to become a member then try to apply for club discount. if its an offline club then larger membership fees etc etc apply meaning youre more likely to be a dedicated bmw owner and not for instance, someone with the caliber of our zone gold hero - bmw stevie :D

cotty - If pistonheads discount is anything like zone discount then you only need mention the website and give your username to whoever youre speaking to, or at least thats what ive found in the past. i would think they check up to see if its a genuine account.

You too tight to find £35?

Do you like track days?
Your membership fee will be re-paid after your first club arranged event.

Want cheaper insurance?
Your membership fee may be paid this way.

Like weekend's away enveloping your 'er indoors in a luxury hotel?
Your membership fee will be repaid in one weekend.

Do you insist on BMW only parts for your pride and joy?
10% discount as a minimum at all stealers.

There are many other benefits too, like the magazine, there are some example issues here: http://issuu.com/bmwccgb, the forum isn't as active because everyone uses the specialist forums like ours but that doesn't detract from it as a club.

Sky insurance count the zone as a club. I got "discounted" insurance through them at the moment. Still bloody extortion though
