m50 main battery cables

On the e36 loom they are two thick wires, one black, one red...are these both positive or is the black an earth?? They connect to a plastic box thing and im unsure about the black one

Sounds like the terminals that connect to what would've been the cables running to the battery in the boot.

Im.not with the car at tje mo.mate so i cant but im sure it.is the bit which connects to the battery...im 100% about it..just that black cable

just been out and had a look at mine to jog my memory dude. from what i can see using my phone as a torch lol, there are 3 mains cables to hook up. the thickest red main and thickest black main youre talking about both go to the positive terminal. there is a thinner black main that goes to earth that is originally loomed up into the round diagnostic pacman plug loom. i seperated this so the diagnostic plug can go into the plastic bracket on the 4 cyl wiring cover. hope this helps dude
