Was thinking of turning this into a DWYB type car all in the name of "a laugh" :)

I pretty much have everything to hit the ground running, all 'SE parts' will be removed and kept/sold as necessary, I have a spare engine, about 12 spare wheels with tyres I could destroy, 3 spare diffs and a welder. The car has been lowered 55mm and being the 4 door variety is bridge fodder anyway I figure what the hell...

Wasn't planning on going mental spending loads of money as being a 320i I was thinking if it goes bang then it goes bang but is there anything blatently obvious I am missing? I know I should probably stick bucket seats and harness in for good measure. Engine has had a recent oil and filters and plugs but wasn't planning on going down the route of a new timing belt or anything expensive (it's just a b20)

Any tips/advice would be great as it is just a random idea I have had and as yet I haven't put much thought in. The car won't be doing track days just drift days with a couple of mates joining in using it and paying for fuel and any bits it might need.
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Steering rack is always a good modification if you can find one cheap enough.

If not get some rack spacers, these help a lot. I used 2 x 2 Euro coins per side.

cooling system is pretty sharp on this one already, is an electric fan on a switch worth the effort?

@ maxfield, where do you fit rack spacers? Sorry for being dumb. I just sold an E46 rack but I will make do with the 'windmill spec' rack for now.

Thanks for the tips 8)

Yes for something that can take 10 minutes to sort
im not being a dick and saying you cant drive but if your a beginner your first day will be 90% spent going round in circles or doing figure of 8's. So not really going very fast and working the engine hard.

I say this to everybody with a bmw, because bmws HATE going round in circles. They overheat so fast.

The worst thing at a drift day is to have a overheating car and having to wait for it to cool down

If it was my car id have the thermostat out and drill it with a few holes too.

As a beginner id just sort those bits out and go out and skid, see if you like it and see if you get on with it.

As maxfield said rack change is always good as the e30 rack is shite, lock to lock your arms will be flapping like mad!

The go between the tie rod and steering rack for some extra lock.
