hi all
my alpina 2.3 idles at about 1200rpm and when it starts up cold it sits at about 2000 until it warms up but i cant see any form of idle control.
i've had the TB off and cleaned it but it does not have the usual control valve as far as i can see also checked the operation of the idle switch there all OK
any ideas

If you have no ICV, i have seen the idle adjusted by the a screw on the vacum take off on the back of the inlet manifold. This is how my idle was adjusted on my 320i (pre ICV).

No, at the back of the Inlet Manifold. Its where the bracket from the valve cover to manifold is fitted. Follow the pipe from the FPR that goes to the rear of the manifold. There should also be another tube that comes from the thing that has a bar that slides in and out near the TB.
I ll see if i can borrow a pic from someone !

Found one !!!!!

kam you're a genius i found it hiding away in that housing on mine thecold start injector is on there as well however it was not as straight farward as i thought i turned it all the way in and it still idled at 1200 so what i did was bypass the cold start idle speed controler (seems like a mechanical device probably wax filled working off coolant tem)and hey presto it idles perfect i will see how she idles tommorow morning
many thanks :P

My 320i had that same type of idle control, it is contolled by the vacum, no vacum cause's the rod to push out, causing higher rev's, high vacum suck's the rod in. It used to be a right pain in the butt until some one showed me how it works are where the adjustments are.
