thought i should try an get this sorted, ive noticed this over the last 3 weeks or so, my bonnet seems to be letting in water when i open it to jump it thers water all over the battery tray / battery and along the drivers side turret

my battery tray is starting to show signs of surface rust, my ol man said it could be a blocked scuttle ?

its basically like puddles on the battery and the tray near the suspension turret and along the side....

the seal is still there around the scuttle and front, havnt removed the hood but i had an accident and replaced the wing early last year, but only recently noticed the wetness..

i also posted up a thread some time ago about my drivers door, when its fully closed thers a gap in the corner when your looking out, you can see sunlight. i noticed this in the car wash when the water sprayed onto my neck!

also when fitting the wing the panel gap isnt the same as the other side, theres no touching with the door but its not perfect...

have i distorted the shell or something possibly? :?

edit - right section.

If the scuttle is not draining, it could be that the elephants trunk is blocked....

Sounds like this could be all down to the accident damage. I doubt if you've 'bent the shell' in any serious way, but a bit of effort has to go into replacing the damaged wing, starting with the front panel. Everything is adjustable, and perfect panel gaps are achievable with a little effort.
For the door, brute force is the answer! Wind the window down, hold the main part of the door open by reversing the car by a bollard or post, and carefully bend the top frame in.

Elephants trunk is a rubber one way valve, fitted in the engine bulkhead just inboard of the battery tray, which lets water drain from the centre of the scuttle area (around the fan motor), and prevents under bonnet air being drawn in to the cabin by the fan.
