Bit of an update...
Car is going to have engine conversion in March now so will be booking some days off to tackle it properly then. In the meantime I hope to track down a decent sprayer to prep and respray the car. Debating whether to keep her red or totally change the colour. Will probably stick with red as if I get it resprayed I would want full respray job i.e. interior out but that will be a lot of hassle. If I did change colour I would probably go gun metal grey or black but in BMW original colours.
Got me some Alpina B6 clocks from Germany although the guy stiffed me. Piccies online were of B6 clocks AND bonnet/boot badges. When only the clocks turned up I got in touch but he said he had only put them there for show and that the description didnt mention them. I told him the description didnt say they werent included. Anyway I didnt get them.
Other than that I have a full stainless exhaust system with the B10 I bought so will hope to use albeit in modified format on the e30 if possible.
Looks like leeparkes is cracking along nicely with his conversion. Impressive.

I know its been all quiet on the western front but I'm back with an update. The engine is now out of the e34 and under wraps next to my garage. Guess who helped me remove it on Saturday?...

The missus getting stuck in.

Not just posing mind!

Sad day really but the I weighed up carefully before doing this.

Believe it or not it took literally 30mins which was brilliant. Next steps are to service it, do the spray bar mod, change the leads, sparkies, and clean the block down and give it a good dose of tlc and matt black paint!
Keep you posted. Wish I was as far ahead and had as tidy a result as Lee!

Had a manic year working away and long hours so the project has sat unattended for some time.
I have decided due to my schedule to get the car done by someone end to end, and my plan is to get M3 panels on her, and make a tribute to the B6 3.5s, but as a cab which Alpina never made (they did a B6 3.5 cab but not the 3.5s in a cab). I have already posted in the wanted for parts if anyone has any.
Hoping to get her in to someone around March or April as we have the builders in so the scaffolding is blocking my garage so I cant get the car out
Anyway looks like Lee has done an amazing job on his motor so cant wait. Am trawling the interweb for parts so my eyes are getting sore!

Oh yeah! What a motor. Just trying to work out the balance (if any) between true faithful replica & tribute car as some parts nightmarish to find. Thanks for the encouragement!leeparkes wrote:Bit of inspiration for you....

Recaro Alpina's now sourced from Germany...
They are from a coupe but I reckon I can make the back seat material work.

Yeah, although we had a deal. Stuff not cheap always on German ebay tho, some stuff seems well over priced.
The link Lee... http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... TQ:DE:1123
No front door cards but I reckon I can do something as he is sending spare Alpina material.

Just picked up some 17inch staggered Alpinas 8.5j front and 9.5j rears, 5 stud. Recaros are apparently en route. M3 side skirts are here. M3 rear bumper is awaiting collection. Ok, body panels, front bumper, suspension, brakes, and any Alpina bits I can locate to go.
Flogging spare motorbike parts I've hoarded to fund some of this, will also be flogging cab wing and doors soon to help, but it's a drop in the ocean

My mechanic had them as an exchange for doing the conversion from the 3.5 to the 3.5 Alpina. At the time I was going to use my Asev's and stick with the 4 stud set up. Engine conversion hasnt happened yet though and he has used the wheels on another B10 he has. The Alpina is still sat under a tarp on a pallet next to my garage, hence the delays with getting the car done. I am working all hours so no time to spend on the motors really except smaller bits and bobs on weekends.
He says he will do the engine conversion but I've been waiting nearly 12mths now
I could have saved myself a few quid but these came at an ok price. Never mind, for the money I paid for the B10 the engine and steering wheel was probably worth that. Next time I will do things differently, but getting stressed wont help as I have too much on with builders on site, a business to run, etc etc.
Got to just stay

Alpina staggered 17inch wheels collected today!
The guy didnt even know what they were. They are all straight and just need a gentle refresh. All of them came with great tyres and the chap even threw in a spare 5 series cross spoke wheel with a good tyre which was from the spare wheel well of the car these came off! I asked him where the car was but it had been scrapped. I asked if the car was an Alpina and the guy didnt know...I sincerely hope it wasnt.
Anyway they are now safely home tucked up alongside the Porker!
I need m3 panels now!

They may well have I am not 100% but some of the other guys here will confirm one way or the other, but the e34 B10 came with 8.5j on the front and 9.5j on the rear as far as I am aware, those were what my donor had and are what these are. Hope this helps.
Recaro's should arrive over the next week, back seats tomorrow, front seats a few days later.

Possibly but will see once I have decided on the colour for the car. She is red now but may consider getting her sprayed a different colour.ImysE30 wrote:Are you going to be fitting the Alpina Stripe kit?
