m52b25 won't start

Hi,

I bought a e30 with a m52b25 conversion last week, it has been running fine and starts on the button every day. This morning however it wouldn't start.

The fuel pump is priming and the starter motor is turning the engine over however it is not firing.

Is there any reason why this would have happened out of the blue? And is there any quick bypass as it seems likely to be some sort of immobiliser problem (EWS)

Would be delighted if anyone can shed any light!

does the ews click?

are you getting a spark?

if the ews clicks could be the crank sensor

Is the key (from the donor vehicle) taped to the receiver ring and under the dashboard? Check it is close to the receiver ring just incase it is anything daft like that

Thanks for your help guys.

I unwrapped the ecu from the ews unit and couldn't find a key(?) but after having moved it whilst looking for the key it seems to start now.

I'm not sure how it can run without the chip though, I've text the seller so hopefully he can shed some light on this.

The chip is probably stuck to the receiver somewhere, they are tiny.

yeah no i managed to get in touch with the previous owner, and yeah he stuck it with some tape to a wire, that wire must have moved slightly too far from the antenna
