Hello all, new to the site, great setup you have going here. i live in montreal canada, and am itching to get into an e30, they are pretty cheap here in canada.
Anyhow, i am completely new to tuning and bodywork and engine replace, was wondering where if any of you could tell me where to get started, specifically for the e30.
Thanks, and hope you can answer my question!

Hiya mate welcome to the Zone,

Can't really help on what the E30's are like in Canada, but performance-wise I believe there's a company that has a bolt-on supercharger kit for the 325i round that way! :)

Welcome mate!

I cant give you specific ideas on modding your e30, but i'd suggest you start by making it a sound car first.

so be prepared to get dirty and check all suspension units, gearbox, diff and engine over thoroughly, then i'd mod it in this order..

1. Make it STOP- 200+bhp is all well and good, as long as you can control it

2. Make it handle-Again big BHP needs as much control as possible

3. Make it go fast :D

4. Make it look good

Welcome to the Zone hope you like it here. Ask an E30 question and someone will know the answer. I have found out so much more since being here and I have had E30's for 11 years

Welcome, Styling i think either full mtech 2 kit or mtech 1 with 318is spoiler looks good, paint I would stick with colour you have. Wheels you want 16 or 17" ofset is +20mm i think so might need spacers and alot of good wheels only come in 5 stud you might want to swap to some 5 stid hubs and upgrade brakes at same time. Tuning will depend on if you want to tune the M20 engine you have, with NA cam and equal length manifold and ECU tuning could get near 200 bhp any more you either need to look at turboing which is alot of work or swaping to a bigger/newer engine which is probly less work then turboing engine you have.

Check E30tech.com if you havent already that is the main US E30 forum.

Welcome to the zone mate, as far as modding goes, i would say (my opinion) -

Decent wheels 1st (17inch max)

M-tech 2 kit

The best suspension you can afford ( race spec would be the way id go)

Big brake kit

Engine mods or engine change

Im of the opinion that its best to get to know a car for a while before you do anything to it so you can decide for yourself what you want to change. This is especially the case for engine mods.

Just my opinion, hope it helps mate!

guys thanks a lot!!
I have found a few books, and i am going to order the the service manuals along with numerous other books on the model. I can get one really cheap like i said its most probably going to be an 325e, either 87 or 88. I am aiming to get an m30 engine into and then tune that engine hoping to get upwards of 250 in the car heheh, that oughta be fun! But again this is a learning project most of all, over the next couple years...
Anyhow, thanks for the weclomes and responses!
NTB.

welcome to the zone! Check performance BMW magazine or total BMW for online parts for engine and styling etc, i also live abroad from uk but have no problems ordering bits.

there are also a few sites such as baye30.net which is based out of California (somewhere in that little place between Canada and Mexico i think! winkeye )

and stricklyeta.net too worth a try

but NONE of them as good as the zone!!
