Thread sorted.
320i or 325i? Badge on the boot shows 325i, engine shot shows a 320i, or at least the inlet manifold is a 320i item..

Detailsof restoration are, fit all mtech2 kit-bumpers, interior, boot spoiler etc. want to try and keep car oem as far as possible, apart from the rear lights and bbs deep dish wheels. Also then planning to get parts of car spraying, or may get a full respray, that will be the last thing though, as from what i can see its one of the better examples and has a deep shine to it, but theres just the odd bit that could do with going, I'm quite fussy. Just want to fully restore so its near enough mint and then fit all mtech kit, full leather interior etc.
Also chrome arches and wolfrace wheels have to go obviously! I didnt ruin this lovely classic car with these aftermarket parts it was bought that way.
Also is the chrome trim around the windows oem or aftermarket and do they do it in a black rubber or plastic trim, or is it best to leave it? I'm not a big fan of chrome apart from if its on bbs rims.
Any advice or pointers on anything would be good, as want to keep the car as original factory standard as possible, but think the mtech kit would benefit the look of the car.
Cheers

I think that chrome bits looks cool, probably because I have a chrome E30, but it's completely up to owner. Anyways, your resto plan is really great. Good luck!

thanks, yes it is growing on me but think the chrome arches are a bit over the top and a slightly tacky looking, although I know everyone has different tastes and I respect that, its good to be different, if we were all the same would be very boring.lol.
But personally I think oem is best with maybe one or 2 aftermarket touches, lights wheels etc.
But personally I love all e30's and think its good that anyone puts the effort in to looking after them, restoring them etc.
I'd have a m3 or alpina if I had the money, but just loving having my convertible at the moment, a bit of a project for summer (if we get one this year).
It's nice to see everyones so helpful on here aswell and alot of information available.
cheers

if you do fit the Tech2 kit, you will probably be better changing the chrome trim for black.
and i have a few steering wheels here btw Matt

taken 2 of the arches off so far, which was a absoloute bitch, because some one had not only pop riveted them, but emptied a whole tube of tigerseal or no more nails on it by the look of it, has to heat them with a blow torch to melt glue underneath then just pull as hard as you can.
One question though, now have remnants of the tiger seal or whatever it is left on arches and is hard to remove as only bits come off at a time, any recommendations on anything to take off easier, special chemicals etc.
Will try take photos of arches after removal, not much rust underneath, which is good, but will need a spray over i think, due to paint peeling off with the glue, when arches were removed.
Anyone have a rough idea of price to treat rust, prep and paint all four arches? 150-250?
cheers

if it's only silicone sealant, it should come off paintwork with a good firm rub with a moistened rag

Cheers adi,
It's gone very hard though, almost like plastic, it may be something alittle stronger thean silicone, or might just be where its been on there so long maybe.
So far have just tried picking it off which sort of works, but takes ages, just wondered if there was a chemical of some sort that may soften/lossen it up.
I have label and graffiti remover at work which I have used in the paste on other things and seems quite good may possibly give that a try.
Will take your advice first though and try rubbing very hard, with a damp cloth.
Also did you get my text earlier mate, about collecting parts and if its easier for me and my brother to remove the tank non saturday, as wanted to fit the tank and barrel on saturday or sunday if possible.
Just thought it may sae you rushing around quite as much as I understand you are a very busy bloke.
Cheers

I've heard petrol, nail varnish remover, tcut and silicone sealant remover work well, or try using a plastic knife to get the work of it off, as this wont scratch paintwork.
