mike burroughs is a freak who turn the world on its head

rusty is/was a legendary car, but the problem is everyone thinks they can buy a shitter, rust it and deck it on cheap coilovers shiny wheels and expects every one to think that they are a hero

its sheep , not innovation

i agree some people now do try and turn some shit heap car into a rat as hell icon which is insane because even mikes e28 started as a mint as hell car that deteriorated

The rat scene has been done to death in my opinion.

Mikes rusty made me laugh but the only original thing about the build was the gold plated wheels, doubt that's been done outside the middle east.....

Did like the ww2 fighter style art work on it tho.

That link above is wrong... shame on you blitz :(

porsche are horrible stanced or not.

the rat scene shouldnt be a " scene " u acheive, it should just happen to a car or be an attitude. the problem was rusty made it into something that gets popularised where people attempt to make their cars look like that and its just wrong.

anyway, stance for all

nick, stanced is quicker way of saying " a vehicle in which the owner has tastfully and quite skillfully selected the correct rim diameter width and tyre size combined with spacer and suspension set up "

stance has existed for year and people HAVE been doing it forever in every 'scene' of car modification. STANCE is now an adjective for 'wheels and drop' it's just used incorrectly now because of a website. Low cars and low et fitment wheels is nothing new

but now you see every one rave about it. for me there is nothing special about a car that sits low on air bags and 'dumps' it on the ground at meet and calls it stance or hella flush or some other retarded name, the same applies when they use coilovers ( usually cheap ones )

while some of my cars may have had a nice 'stance' i have never used the terms to define the/a 'scene' or look i want

i set my cars up to sit nicely they then up having a nice stance, which basically means its lowered to a point where it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

if i want my wheels to sit further out i'll say that i want a wider track. this means they will be flush with the arches, which in turn developed into 'hellaflush'

i do not say i'm going for a hellaflush look and i want poke blah blah blah

right now, people cut their springs but if they have a few quid fit the cheapest coilovers available with no real insight to how they will perform, they ride on bump stops, then roll their arches with baseball bats or any other object that does an equally foul job and stretch tyres to fit into a scene.
FFS people will stretch tyres onto 6j wheels and 20mm spacers and the cheapest tyre they can find. that worries me.

call me a snob if you want, but if you are going to stretch a tyre please use on thats decent not some cheap and dangerous brand linglongs/nankangs/nexens

some of the standards that these cars are at is a joke, and if that all people aspire to and what the rest of the world see as the cutting edge or ground breaking automotive modifications then standards drop

why does it bother me, because some people have no idea what goes into building a car from the ground up to a good standard and by doing what they do an having a sub culture with one of these retarded names gives them a sense of inner satisfaction that only their playmates in the self styled group this is great

i went to the stance meet at ace cafe a while ago. maybe a hand full of the cars there were decent the rest were scrap

thats a good point actually kos the whole cutting corners thing is just a joke i agree. cutting springs leaving stock shocks and rather than spending decent cash on 8s or 9s just putting 25 mm worth of spacers on and forcing plastic value tyres on them isnt a great plan.

it shows well enough when they actually put the car in motion though and the thing rolls round corners like a burst arse sliding uncontrollably.

i think aslong as performance isnt sacrificed for image gain its not too bad

Kos your a secret stance freak ? :D

don't get me started on these fooking idiots,

they take a half decent car lower it until it's undrivable and blow twice as much as the cars cost on phat rimz with streched tyres ? 3 months later their creation is scrap if it wasn't already.. but who cares ?
so long as they get some nice creative pics of the shitbox they have created rotting in an alley... 8O

I'm all for preservation of these classics so they can grace the roads for at least another 20 years,
now if the stance cocks were lovers of Mondeo's and the usual disposable crap then fair enough, crack on :D

Having any car low is fine but if they are even lower there no point not unless you drive on the motorway 24 7 and some of the A'B roads have so many pots holes cracks etc.you'll end up damaging yours rims, your car! winkeye
They don't make bm's like this anymore!..They should.

This sums up everything I hate about all of this "scene" bollocks. I can't remember seeing a single car where the performance aspect isn't compromised in some way; that's why there's hatred even for the air-filter change that you mentioned earlier.

Fine, cock around with your pointless little V-dub, but BMW were always designed as performance vehicles, and compromising performance for the sake of aesthetics won't get any respect from me.

If you want stupid sized wheels and no suspension on your car, then stick to Matchbox, and leave BMWs alone.

Yep

but as long as they're ruining sh1tboxes and not decent cars let the stancec0cks get on with it.

Every one they feck up just makes properly looked after cars even better and more valuable.

no-one went apeshit because he wasn't OEM ?! :? most of the people on here have made massive mods to their cars.. engine changes, brakes, wheels etc etc.. not just dropped the stinker on silly little tyres and cheap wide rims.. and these people aren't pushing the boundaries.. it's all been done before.. My caddy had stretched tyres on 9" wide rims in 2002 and it was ON THE FLOOR.. that's my point.. it's all just copy club balls.. and I think you'll find the only person you'll annoy by building a turd rat stinker is yourself.. the point is.. like 20" rims on a saxo it's a look that people think they can 'better' by going more extreme.. not realising that past a certain point it becomes a mockery of itself.. (fake jugs = fair enough... Pete Burns = What the f*ck?..)

you need to step away from the computer.. go sit in the car.. and have a really good think about why you're into cars and what you are doing with it.. if your answer is forum based and revolves around a 'scene' of other peoples ideas.. then you need to turn the computer off and start thinking for yourself..

Lowering cars until they are virtually undriveable and fitting wheels that are worth more than the car is hardly an original trend or particularly clever.

don't look down on 30 year olds.. we came up with a lot of the ideas you're trying to copy.. badly.. with no clue of why you're doing it..
and why is a boxter not a real sports car?! ok it's not my cup of tea but it'd take both of your cars apart if you managed, by some feat of engineering, to combine the horsepower of the two..
you want to scrape all your paint off and follow the herd of d*ckheads then go for it.. not even sure where this thread is going any more.. it appears to be you, coming up with ideas that I doubt will even come to fruition and basically talking about a subject you read about on a forum and saw some pictures of, rusty slammington was innovative.. did you see under the bonnet? add to that the roof chop etc.. still couldn't really hammer it though.. all show = no go, and all the kids think pouring brake fluid on a 4 door E36 will somehow be as cool.. I think not..

Mid engined, flat 6, RWD = not a real sports car?
Whilst I can understand that the hairdresser, bimbo types can ruin the image of the car, the cars will eventually be owned by those who actually understand the dynamics and engineering of a marque. The mistake prosche made was to give the boxster a 996 front, creating the 'not a proper porsche' attitude when it is a follow on from the 914/6.

Reading Total BMW this month (I think) 80% of owners couldn't tell you which end the car is driven from, perhaps missing some of the point and following marketing, image and brand reputation; cars that will eventually be owned by enthusiasts who appreciate the engineering.

Whut? all show no go. Rusty had a twin turboed supra engine in the final stages. Im not looking down on 30 year olds im saying traditionally boxters are driven by middle aged pen pushers. As for the whole rat e30 thing thered no point me turning that rung white piece of shit into a gem cause its never going to be one so il rat it up. The mint litte black one im getting in the coming month wil be kept clean and untainted with the alpinas so im hardly tainting the badge
