Ello Ello!

Noobie here. I'm basically lookin into buying an E30 beemer. Probably a 325. My justification... I need something nippy that is relatively reliable, that ruled out turbos (I have a big love for turbo fords). I have to do a 35km commute every day to get me to uni and my brother to school.

I've been going through forums and beemer sites for quite a while looking for tech spec sheets but i've been having no luck, i've just picked up random facts and figures along the way. What I would love is just a factory technical spec sheet for the 325 (as many models as possible).

I will probably go for either a 2door saloon or an estate.

I'm escpecially interested in the fuel consumption rates

:thumb: But any help would be very much appreciated :thumb:

325i is 171bhp comes in 2 / 4 / convertible/ touring (BMW don't make estates...)

round town expect 20ish to the gallon thats about 220 miles to the tank, you might see 300 miles on a run.

The 325i wasn't built for economy...

You will have to convert 'our' miles / gallons to your km's & gallons.

welcome! :D

lol, sorry, I just moved back to finland after spending 8 odd years in London. So i'm back to metric (and glad :P)

I'll be doing motorway driving through out 30km of the 35. 300miles=480km is pretty good, my dads merc e230 gets about that.

one worry is the effect of winter tyres on this, will probably worsen it a bit, but yeh, that's an acceptable fuel budget.

could you elaborate on the bmw not makin the estate. I just though touring was a model, is it like a seperate manufacturer working with BMW?

Does anyone have the tech spec sheets though?

:D just a bit of BMW snobbery mate. The touring IS an estate made by BMW but estate is such a vulgar word!

lol, I see! had me silly searching the internet about info!

I don't know what it is about the estate...sorry TOURING, just got me interested in it. I feel like an old man for it!

By your sig you look like you own one, how is the handling on the touring compared to the saloony shape? is there a big difference in weight or performance?

Cheers a bunch :thumb:

Unfortunately you're asking an old man! I've never driven or been in another E30 so i can't make comparisons. I do know that tourings have 50/50 weight distribution which in theory should make them handle better than a saloon. No doubt someone will be along with all relevant info' shortly.

hi mate- nice choice for a daily commuter!

325i in any form is a fun and rewarding car

as for the touring

It's not an old person's car :D

several people on here prefer touings to saloons due to the fact that they have approximately 51/49 weight distribution (front/rear) this makes them a bit more "stable" when working on the limits, eg drifting...

dont let that put you off buying a saloon though-if a nice one becomes available :D

Tourings rule! They handle brilliant, only thing really needed is an LSD.

Also, you'll probably find there are more unmolested tourings out there then saloons.
