I'm sure I read on here before that the vanos seal can be done without locking of the timing and the sproket tool ect by taking off the vanos unit but leaving the sproket in place ect. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please as I'm pretty sure my vanos seal is fubar'd.!

I haven't got locking tools or sproket tool but I cannot find the thread in question. But I would like to purchase a seal off Danthe and do this soon

Thanks

That's helpful Lee and thanks but I need to know how to do this without locking off the timing ect as I haven't the tools ect...

I'm sure I seen a thread on here a while ago where someone fixed their vanos seal without taking the sprocket out of the cam. By undoing the piston cup and removing this thus leaving the gear in the cam and not needing to tdc and lock out.......

Not tried it myself but its the only way to do it without affecting the timing 8)

That's the one I wanted, thanks Dan.

Not got the tools and I begrudge paying someone else to do work on my car lol. Will have a bash at this soon, can you keep a seal kit in stock for me pal? I will be in touch soon. 8)
